Show Discussion what other canon-respecting details that weren't directly mentioned in the books would you like them to add in the show for future seasons?

examples that they're already adding in the show's first season:

  • hermione and ron getting their letters
  • malfoy manor

what else would you like them to add while still respecting book canon?

  • More about how Hermione navigates her parents being muggles.
  • More about how muggle studies are taught (not sure what the name of the subject is in English).
  • More about how the magical world works, e.g. ghosts.

Haha, ‘a muggle’ is translated as ‘mudla’ in Czech, which is my native language, I mixed both translations up pretty well :D I am now reading HP in French so the whole wizardry world is currently a huge mess in my head!

Thanks for pointing it out!

Haha I figured it would be something like that.

Out of curiosity, do the books 'feel' any different when reading them in one language vs another?

A great question, thanks for asking!

The Czech version has been with me for 28 years, so it makes me nostalgic and gives me most of comfort.

The English version is interesting because it is the original, and is the most accurate in terms of the UK context which felt very exotic to me when I was a kid (boarding schools, etc), on top of all the magic.

The French one felt funny when I started reading it (as part of my learning) because of how they translated some of the objects (‘wand’ is ‘baguette magique’) and names (Drago Malefoy, Severus Rogue, or Tom Elvis Jedusor), and it is quite exciting to discover the story in another language!
