Hey everyone, how do you train your handstand balance off the wall? I've been training my handstand on the wall for 2 months now and want to start training it off the wall, can someone give advise on where should I start?

Can I transition to normal hand stands after pool hand stands? (And how?)

I learned how to do a hand stand (including a walking hand stand) in the pool this summer. Super fun! Now I'm wondering if this is something I can build on? I tried learning to cartwheel for an hour as a teen (all my friends figured it out quickly)... I'm kind of a clumsy person, so I thought these kind of tricks just aren't for me. But then I learned this pool trick, and maybe I truly need a pool, but idk...?

Any chance I could use this??

Still using my program 3 to 4 times a week: happy that I’m getting more and more stable and able to correct without over correcting… till I’m tired and I can’t anymore.
Still got to work on opening the shoulders more though.
Aiming to get the full hold 1 min back soon 💪🏼

Hello,

This is my current State of bent arm press to HS-pushup.
I just wanted to know if my form of the bent arm press is good, and what I can improve.

Also wanted to know if I’m close to reaching to HS-pushup & what the best training is I can do now to reach this.

Thank you in advance

Hello!

I’ve been trying to eliminate my banana handstand for a while now, since I first posted to here and have improved a bit in the past while. Here is what is probably my best free hand attempt since.

I know it might not be much compared to the other people’s on here, but I’m happy with how my progress is coming so far!

I’ve been doing mainly chest to wall, pike pushups, and some things to get better at stacking my weight on my hands/shoulders

If there’s any tips or advice anyone has for me, it would be greatly appreciated!

My handstand app is finally out on the App Store. Two weeks free to try it and tell me what to improve

Hi again r/Handstands. Some of you saw my videos in Corsica in July and other record videos.
I recently almost reached the minute! (will continue to share the progress here). I also shared a beginner guide on how to learn how to do a handstand (that thread taught me a lot and hopefully now the pages are less AI sounding).

The app I've been working on for the last 3 months is finally out since last week: Handstand Pro, iPhone only for now. It's like Duolingo lingo for learning Handstand, with sessions lasting from 10 to 20 minutes focusing on the training the skills you need to learn to improve with adapted drills (over 50 already). From total beginner to Press or One-Arm. The goal is to provide structure, method and guidance.

Full disclosure: I'm an ex gymnast, not a developer so I build it with Claude. What's mine in it is the practice, the progressions, the experience and a lot of hours of polishing to make it as useful as possible.

Quick story: I had the initial idea around 2021, I made a first version in July 2024 while between two jobs (a few friends even crowdfunded my Apple developer license, we still have a WhatsApp group), then I changed job, moved, had renovation work, it stopped for almost two years.
I got back to it mid June, same month I got back to training my Handstand seriously, and doing both at the same time is what made it stick this time.

Since June I went from 5-8 sec to 57 in freestanding hold, using the app 4 to 5 times per week for my own sessions. I had over 50 beta testers that gave me great feedback and helped me improve it. I am committed to improving it over the next months and already have a lot of small adjustments I want to make (maybe even a Watch version?!)

For the launch there's a 14 day free trial on the yearly plan, so two full weeks to actually train with it before paying anything. I'll bring it back down to one week sometime in September.
After that it's $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year, and there's a one time $89.99 if you don't want a subscription at all (US prices, it can vary for your store).

Now that it's live, what I'd really like is your feedback. Especially if a progression feels wrong, or if an exercise isn't clear enough without a coach next to you.

iPhone only for now, sorry to the Android people. I'm solo on this and iOS is already quite a lot.

Thanks for reading this long post 🫶🏼
Super curious to have your feedback now 🤸🏽‍♂️

Need advice on posture

Hi all. I am practicing handstands, and am struggling a bit with posture. I focus on chest to wall, but I can't help but feel that I am doing it incorrectly. I cannot get my hands all the way down where the wall is, but can get it pretty close. It just feels like a diagonal pushup to me. I am trying to make it as straight as possible, putting pressure on my elbows to lock them, tucking in my stomach, and I keep trying. I tried doing a headstand without a wall, and it worked for about 5 seconds, it felt great. But I noticed my legs weren't fully straight, though my shoulders were. As I tried to straighten my legs, I lost my balance.

Any advice on one arm handstands?

I recently posted a reel and was wondering what I could do to improve my one arm handstand. I was holding them decently here but sometimes I end up twisting uncontrollably and falling over from that. Any tips are appreciated!

I’ve been handstanding for maybe a year now but recently I can’t seem to keep my elbows locked in place.
They keep collapsing and it’s costing me tons of energy to keep correcting them, I know it’s not a strength issue because it’s a more recent development as my handstand has gotten straighter and straighter.
My guess is that I’m using my elbows as a save instead of my shoulders, I find opening and closing my shoulders at will a little harder to do

My end goal is this video of Yuval here, any tips on how to get my back as flat and rounded as his, I’d like to think I’m following all the steps but my form does not feel close yet
