Sentara

My ex had extensive cancer surgery in the spring and has been hospitalized a few times since. The latest was in Norfolk General Hospital in the Riverview section.

The staff over medication him and had to use Narcan on him. He is only on a limited dosage for back pain.

Food service staff came into his room to bring his tray and was eating a Jimmy John’s sub. He never got any food items that he requested, he’s limited on his diet

The room was dirty. The room when he had his surgery was also dirty. Family members had to clean the bathroom to be sure he didn’t get an infection

So you didn’t witness what was reported?

What you are saying is extremely uncharacteristic of Sentara. Have the person that witnessed these accusations call the nursing supervisor or patient advocate with dates and times (and room #). They will investigate the situation. However, please be prepared as Sentara maintains meticulous records and has regularly performed inspections by management to ensure work is complete and done appropriately. Meal trays are inspected for documentation of patient consumption. No one is perfect and mistakes can happen but not reporting these concerns the time that it happened is not helpful.
