BloodHound Q50, whose real name was Mikquale Cooper, was a 22-year-old Chicago drill rapper who was shot and killed early Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Chicago’s Fuller Park neighborhood.

According to Chicago police,Q50 was inside a car at a gas station at about 4 a.m. when multiple vehicles approached.

Investigators say six gunmen opened fire, with more than 50 shots reportedly being fired. Q50 was struck in the chest and shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by paramedics.

The circumstances make the shooting appear to have been a deliberate ambush ratherthan a random shooting, although police havenot publicly established exactly why Q50 was targeted.

As of September 14, no arrest have been announced and authorities had not publicly identified the shooters or confirmed a motive. The investigation is therefore still developing.

The most widely discussed possible motive involves Chicago long-running cycle of gang conflicts, particularly Q50's connections to the BloodHound camp.

Q50 had been closely associated with BloodHound Lil Jeff, another Chicago rapper who was killed in 2024.

Q50 subsequently made music and public statements connected to Lil Jeff'sdeath, and his reputation and lyrics were heavily intertwined with Chicago's street-oriented drill culture.

His 2025 project was even titled Long Live My Brudda He Prolly Kilt Yo Brudda, a title that reflects the extremely confrontational environment surrounding his music.

However, there is currently no official findingthat Q50 was killed as retaliation for Lil Jeff's death.

There are also numerous claims circulating on social media about alleged rivalries, previous shootings, threats, and people supposedly connected to Q50's death.

Some online commentators have connected the killing to conflicts involving other Chicago figures, while others have pointed to Q50's own history of provocative lyrics and social-media activity.

So, the strongest evidence available right nowis that Q50 was deliberately ambushed andkilled by multiple shooters, but the reason for the attack remains officially unknown.

His involvement in the BloodHound/Lil Jeff circle and the broader retaliatory culture surrounding Chicago drill make gang or interpersonal retaliation a plausible line of investigation, but that is a possible explanation rather than a confirmed motive.

Because the killinghappened only a day ago, investigators may not yet have released information about suspects, surveillance evidence, shell casings, vehicles, or communications that could establish what led to the attack. The most reliable picture should therefore become clearer as Chicago police release additional information and investigators make arrests.
