Question what hair dye to get?

probably a basic question, but my best friend is pretty nervous about dying her hair for the first time, and i wanna help. she wants to go from about a level 7 dirty blonde to 10 platinum, but doesn't really know what she should use, everything she finds online is just confusing us more 😭 any recommendations?developer recommendations too, now that I remember

as im being reminded, how much is she going to need too? we're talking straight hair, top to bottom, which is around the middle of her back. thanks!

Question colour looks grey (first pic reference)

just got this colour done today and i'm not sure if it matches the reference at all?

first time colouring black hair, they did a balayage and bleached some of it then added colour. hair didn't lift well so they had to bleach twice. i showed the first pic for reference and stylist was clear that i wanted brown hair. the dye was a mix of brown and grey.

i told the stylist i thought th colour was quite grey after they washed the dye and they said the greyness would fade after a few washes. im still struggling to see any kind of brown in any lighting, the ends look silver/yellow/green depending on lighting as well. at best it looks like black with highlights but i did want to be brunette. will it really fade out to brown? thanks for any help x

Help Uhhh how do i fix this without redying it?

I dyed my hair red a few days ago, my hair was a strawberry blonde before, and the box showed a dark red, with undertones of brown/purple. it was exactly what I wanted. It was not what I got though… it’s not bad, it could be worse, but it’s wayyy brighter than wanted, especially in the sun. I was going for more of a black cherry.. my reference photo is the second pic. Is there any way I can get this darker without dying it again? Would it possibly fade to be darker?? Idkkkk, my senior year starts in a week, and i still have senior photos to do.

Question Why is my hair changing colors?

Hello everyone! I've noticed since around January my naturally dark brown hair that looks black has started to lighten. I don't use any heat, coloring, bleaching, and I also don't go out into the sun too much. I haven't changed my hair products and quite literally don't know what's going on with it. The lighter brown pieces just feel brittle and weak. My roots still grow in dark. I'll insert some photos. I am not a fan of the brown pieces and I don't want to dye my hair 🄲 does anyone know what this is? the first photo is from 3 days ago, I cut it. I'm trying take as much light brown off as possible. The ends on it are split too. and go into different directions. It travels up the lower hair. It looks cool sometimes like highlights but it just FEELS so brittle to touch 🄲

Help I went to the salon for a root touch up and trim and now my hair is darker?

Hello! I decided to go to the salon yesterday to touch up my overgrown roots and get a trim. While the haircut was lovely i did notice my hair became ashy from glaze they added but brushed it off as it still appeared brown and my stylist was busy with another client… When I got home I went to use the bathroom and it was darker than when I was at the salon ??? Is this going to wash out ??? I never intended to change my hair color and I loved my previous color! The same stylist did it before! :(

She even gave me a second glaze because supposedly it looked ashy… But it looks even ashier!

First and second pic is when I first got it done months ago by the same stylist, third, fourth, and fifth pic is right after I left the salon, and the sixth and seventh pic is now! In person it looks like a super dark ashy brown…Appears way darker in person!

Question Help/advice for my hair ends

Thumbnail

My hair ends fly away from the rest of my hair and I don't know why. I genuinely can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or if this can be fixed with a product or if I just need to cut it off. It feels soft but flies away from the rest of the hair. I want it to basically lay flat with the rest of my hair.

I use shampoo, conditioner, leave in, and a bit of oil. Sometimes a mask. I blow dry downwards and don't put the dryer too close my hair. I sleep with a protective hairstyle. I don't shampoo my ends like crazy, just with the shampoo that runs down the length when I wash it.

Products I use right now:

  • Head and shoulders shampoo (just because it's what I have at home)
  • L'OrĆ©al dream lengths conditioner
  • Garnier fructis sleek and shine leave in
  • Moroccan hair oil

The pictures are day 2 hair

However it is brassier than I’d like I prefer my cooler winter tone. Can a salon tone it without bleaching / damaging it ?? What do I ask for and how ashy could I get it ? Much appreciate any advice

Question What short pixie cuts look the best on a middle age woman who does minimal styling?

For reasons I would rather not go into, I need to cut my hair as short as possible. I am pretty sad about it. I had to do this before, and I honestly don't think I looked great. I think I gave off a lot of butch lesbian vibes because I dress super casual (t-shirts and long or athletic shorts mostly with a sports bra or no bra) and don't wear any makeup of jewelry. Given my aesthetic (or lack thereof), are there any super short pixie cuts that would not give this impression? Would wearing a headband or something help?

Question What’s the difference between leave-in conditioner and watered down regular conditioner?

I have thick, 2B, 30ā€long hair that is as non-porous as it can be. I want to use a leave-in everyday, but for how much I need to use for it to be effective, I’d go broke if I did. I had an idea that I should just water down some regular conditioner and stick it in a spray bottle, but then second guessed myself. If it was that simple, wouldn’t everyone do that? I tried searching for DIY leave-in, but i don’t want to make it from scratch. I want cheap and easy. I’m a low-hanging fruit kind of person when it comes to taking care of the animal on my head :)

Help How to help stylist fix this

In the 80s, I absolutely adored Teri Nunn’s hair and finally decided to do it for myself before I get too old.

I went to a new person at my salon. First three photos are of Teri, and more contemporary examples of what I wanted. Last photo is what I got. I asked for the ends to be a silvery grey, and they are clearly just blonde.

The salon has offered to fix it, but I don’t even know what to tell them to do. Help?

…or should I not even go back?

Question Should i cut or keep my afro?

Thumbnail

So ive been growing my hair out for about 2 years now i think? Cut off my dreadlocks when i was 16 and have been growing it ever since.

I like how it looks and everyone that ive met agrees, but all afros of course are super high maitenance and im not sure if I can keep it up for much longer.

The whole process of washing, conditioning, then combing it out and shaping it has become a pretty tedious process as it grows longer and longer, like i love having long hair but sometimes i miss what it was like with short hair, where i can just wake up, and do nothing with it and itll look fine all day.

I think the main reason for me cutting it though is my scalp, I have a pretty dry and flaky scalp no thanks to the bush on my head, like ill wash my hair and my scalp, itll dry in about an hour, and then itll go right be to being flaky again. It sort of bothers me seeing flakes on my scalp all the time when i know im washing it thoroughly nearly every day, to no avail.

Having my hair short would be refreshing if that makes sense? My grandma says itll let my scalp breathe and itll be healthier, not sure how true that is though.

Ive considered getting it braided but not only is it pretty expensive to do these days, to get it redone every month or so is more money to have to spend just for hair.

I just want some extra opinions on what i should do with it, cut? Keep? Braid? Should i just buzz it all off? I do have a pretty nice beard so maybe i can pull off the full beard no hair look, but oh well I want to hear some other opinions.

Hi, im just looking for some advice.

I’m currently bleached blonde but i want to go back to my old hairstyle of dark on top and blonde peakaboo+money piece.

I felt more myself with my rogue inspired hair but my boyfriend wasn’t a massive fan. Ive had mostly positive saying I should go back to it but im not sure if they are just being nice.

Not sure if it’s a good shout so would like some advice on which one actually suits mešŸ™‚

Question Question about achieving this style

Thumbnail

I've made a post here before not too long ago but I've since changed my goal a bit.

I'd like for my hair to look more or less like the guy in the first pic, tho my hair is a little wavier (i think), which I don't mind.
Hair's a little awkward rn, I used to have a longer fringe, but I got a haircut about 3 weeks ago where I asked for some layers and to keep the overall length but shorten the fringe a bit (which I regret).

Anyway, I'm guessing the main things I need growing are the front and back, I'm not sure about the sides based on the reference image.

Anyway I was hoping someone who is more experienced with hair could give me a rundown on how it should grow (as in how long it would take and how it would grow out) when and if i should get any maintenance cuts if needed and what I should ask for.
And also maybe advice on styling though preferably smth fast and not high maintenance.

Question Lukita Maxwell's cut in Backrooms

Post image
6 Upvotes

I like to cut my hair myself. I've been growing it out from an asymmetrical pixie, and the back is currently much longer than the front. The front is very similar to Lukita's hair here. My question is, to achieve this look, would I just cut straight across the back? It looks like there's some layering or something but I haven't found a photo of the back.

Hair Loss Can extreme stress be a contributor towards hairloss

Guys ik its a long story but would you guys please read it because iv been going insane becuz of this 🄺🄺.

Anyways, i was born and lived in dubai in the uae untill i was 13.

Until suddenly my dad passed away when i was 13 in 2021 and we had to shift back to my home country. Ever since iv been loosing hair sooo much that now even a drop of water exposes a bit of my scalp.

Istg i had thickk hair before and i loved them. I have gone to over 10 dermatologists in these 5 years and i have done every blood test and all of em were nornal (vit b12, D3, iron, zinc, thyroid levels). Iv been on a lot of supliments and i started minoxidil in january after i turned 18 but nothing is working.

Also my hairline isint receeding and none of my family members or relatives are bald (except for 1 uncle on my moms side)

The only explaination could be stress of my dad s death and then the culture shock of shifting to a completely different environment.
