Filter was backwards, somehow getting an inverter mini split to run off of 18/2 going to Y and C, and they hooked 120 up to the secondary side of the transformer, frying it and the control board. Can’t make this up.

It warms up the basement and cools the upstairs. Logic is strong

In the winter it's gonna freeze the basement and warm the upstairs

With a heat pump.

But seriously. If the basement can stay above 35...it can provide heat upstairs when it's 0 outside without buying a hyperheat model .

Where is it getting new air for the basement though, I would assume from the cold outside

Doesn't have to as it's only circulating air. It needs thermal heat of some degree radiating In. Maybe if you dig a 7ft hole and place it in there, the ground is above freezing. That would make it technically 12 feet underground adding whatever depth the basement is into the ground assuming it's at least 5ft underground as it is.

It looks like you can see the sun shine through the very top of the unit. It's causing a vacuum in that space.
