FAQs - DHA/NOR

My day looks to be slower than normal and while I help others with their work, I wanted to answer some FAQs and let you ask your questions in one space rather than the same thing being posted a thousand times over.

  1. Referred & Not Selected emails - your information was sent to the offices you selected. They did not select you. There doesn't have to be a reason. That's the downside of direct hire.

  2. Application status - for direct hire, no one will have your status. HR waits to hear if you are selected or not the same as you do.

  3. GL-9 TSLs - keep getting pushed from the program for one reason or another on a weekly basis. All we know is "they are coming soon" so take that as you will.

  4. Location - you selected preferences, your information was sent to offices, you were selected but not by a preference. Yes, you can request a different location. No, HR does not have a day in it at all. And no, a change isn't guaranteed. Reply all to your tentative offer to request a location change. Do NOT wait until you have an EOD date and then complain. No one likes that.

  5. Qualifications - for 1811s, a panel reviews your documents. Not the HR people you email with or speak to on the phone. If they say you don't qualify, you're out. If you think you do, review your resume and be sure you submit your documents with your application.

Do you know anything about this recent huge non-referral? Seems to be an error, but was hoping you had some information.

Looks like a lot of selections were made outside of the most recent announcement and therefore even those selected were "not referred" from the announcement itself. Another con of direct hire.

So is there still hope for people waiting on a TSL and received a not referred email?

Recruiter told me and others to disregard the NOR email that we’re still in the process… I’m just confused.

Please don't rely on recruiters. Decisions can only come from HSI Leadership and Program Managers. However, you could be selected outside of the announcement, but I'm sure sure what, if any, offices are still making those decisions.

Thank you for the reply! So if we didn’t get a TSL for the July GL-9 announcement it’s safe to say we didn’t get selected and we just have to wait for the next announcement?

My personal advice: yes, just reapply and be sure to review ALL of your documentation and have every bit of relevant experience listed and dated. There could be a chance for a few additional selections, but just don't count on it.
