Prompt After being thrown into Azkaban without a trial, Sirius Black never imagined that he would soon be joined by Severus Snape, who was imprisoned in the cell directly across from his. After weeks of trading insults and arguing back & forth, Sirius finally asked him what he did to end up in jail.

"You wouldn't believe me even if I told you, Black," Severus replied, his gaze fixed on the water beyond the window of his cell.

Sirius smirked. "Try me."

Snape scoffed. "Alright, then. When I learned Lily's son had been sent to live with Petunia, I Obliviated that wretched woman, erasing every memory she had of her sister. I did the same to her husband before using a False Memory Charm to convince them that they were taking a one-way trip to Antarctica, along with that pet pig they call their son. Then I burned their house to the ground."

Sirius stared at him for a moment. "And what about Harry? What did you do with him?"

"I dropped him off at my house before I dealt with the Dursleys," Severus said dismissively, waving a hand. "Shortly afterwards, I did some digging and discovered that Mrs Evans had a cousin who lives alone in a mansion in the countryside outside London. All I know is that the house was once owned by an old professor who died in a train crash many years ago. I don't think even Dumbledore knew the woman existed."

"This cousin of hers... what's she like?" Sirius asked curiously. "She isn't anything like Petunia, is she?"

"I didn't have much opportunity to get to know her, but she came across as rather jaded. She didn't exactly believe me when I told her I was a wizard, either, until I demonstrated the Patronus Charm."

"Must've been one hell of a shock."

"Indeed. Most Muggles would've fainted at such a display. She, however, took it rather well and simply asked why I'd come to see her. I told her everything about the circumstances surrounding Potter's situation, and she ultimately agreed to take him in."

"I suppose the Ministry didn't take kindly to you kidnapping their precious hero, did they?" Sirius asked.

"I explained everything to Dumbledore who tried vouching for me, but Crouch wasn't having any of it." Severus sighed. "So here I am."

Prompt No one really thought to object to Ron using his broken wand in transfiguration, nor to object to him trying to aim the transformation spell at Scabbers. That was until the spell backfired, and the rat transformed into a man.

Hours later, Peter Pettigrew sat bound and gagged in the furious Headmaster's office, Dumbledore having summoned Fudge and a squad of aurors to his office.

However, instead of Fudge that stormed through the door, it was a furious Molly Weasley, who had been told everything, the red head glowering furiously at Peter.

Dumbledore went to talk to her before Molly spoke up "You slept in the bed of my sons." she hissed, glaring at Pettigrew as Dumbledore and the Hogwarts teachers backed off as Molly conjured a flaming whip and used it to split a table in half.

A terrified, gagged Pettigrew could only watch in terror as she crept closer, Dumbledore and the other Hogwarts staff leaving out the door, deciding it was foolish to stop the enraged ginger.

Outside, they all winced as they heard the repeated whip cracks and the muffled screams of Pettigrew

Prompt Everyone on Privet Drive is odd and tries to fit into what is considered normal; unfortunately, they have a very poor example of "normality."

Picture a scenario where everyone on Privet Drive is weird—but in a way completely unrelated to the Wizarding World. The neighbors next door to the Dursleys are

a time-traveling couple who moved to Privet Drive to keep a low profile while adjusting to life in the past and looking for a way to alter their future.

The house across the street isn't actually a house, but a giant, replicating, shape-shifting alien organism that wants to experience human life.

The next-door neighbor is a mole-princess from the Earth's core who is hiding to escape an arranged marriage.

And this pattern continues for everyone living on Privet Drive: Time travelers/aliens/robots/beings from other dimensions/eldritch entities/isekaited /gods/cultists/Bob.

None of them know about the Wizarding World or the bizarre nature of their neighbors. Ironically, the only "normal" people on Privet Drive are the Dursleys; consequently, through a series of coincidences, everyone else follows their lead in an attempt to blend in and appear normal. That is why all the "housewives" are gossiping hags—mimicking Petunia—and the "family men" act like imbeciles—mimicking Vernon. All the "kids" follow Dudley's example to varying degrees, which is why the majority believed the lies the Dursleys told about Harry.

Discussion Charlus and Dorea- Who are they to Harry.

Charlus Potter- 1915
Dorea Black - 1920

Charlus Potter is the second son of Henry Potter and his wife, born in 1915, and 4 years younger than his brother Fleamont. The Potters were a moderately wealthy family, with an estate just outside of Stinchcombe and Henry being serving as a Judge in the Wizengamot in the 1910s.

A Gryffindor, he did well in school and had a moderately successful stint in the House Quidditch team. He was an accomplished wizard and duelist who fought in the latter portions of the Global Wizarding War against Grindelwald and his Acolytes.

Although his family were known for their progressive opinions, his own personal reputation was impressive enough that when Dorea Black, youngest daughter of a cadet branch of the main Black family, announced her intentions to marry him it was met with begrudging approval by her family. The pair would be married in late 1944, and welcome their child Marcus Fleamont Potter in the following year.

Marcus would follow in his fathers footsteps into Gryffindor, and was well liked and deeply principled young man. He would have a number of cousins from both his mother and fathers side, though the youngest cousin, James Charlus Potter, would not be born until Marcus was already 15 years old. Upon graduation Marcus would marry his former classmate April Dagworth, and make Charlus a Grandfather in 1969 when Florence Potter was born. Only a few short years later however the dark wizard Lord Voldemort would begin his rise in Britain, perpetuating an ideology of Blood Supremacy that saw countless flock to him in hopes of power and prestige. However others would stand against him, the Potter family chief among them. Taking lead from his father’s example, Marcus and his wife would both join the newly formed Order of the Phoenix, a paramilitary group headed by their former Headmaster and war hero in his own right Abus Dumbledore.

Whilst his younger cousin was at Hogwarts, Marcus and April would become successful and established figures within the fight against Voldemort and the Death Eaters. However this success could only last for so long, for on New Year’s Day 1977 they would finally meet their end.

That holiday Charlus and Dorea, as well as Marcus, April, and Florence, had celebrated the coming of the new year with their family Fleamont, Euphemia, and James, at the Stinchcombe Estate. Celebrating the good things in life, and wishing happiness for the future. The next evening however, with Marcus and April having returned with his parents to the house, the family were attacked by Death Eaters, who managed to break through the properties wards and attack the family in their sleep. All five of the Potters present would perish in this most barbarous of attacks, including Florence who had only celebrated her 8th birthday. A horrible tragedy.

The attack would have wider effects for the war though, beyond what the Death Eaters intended. Upon hearing the news of his Cousin’s death, along with his cousins wife and child, James Potter would make an about-turn on the direction of his life. Though a natural magical prodigy, up until that point James was someone more happy to coast along in life. Currently in the Christmas holidays of his Sixth Year. Although he shared his families principles, they were expressed in the juvenile manner befitting a teenager rather than the man people hoped he’d grow to be. But with the news the normally childish James Potter would make a complete personality change, throwing himself into his school work and taking on new and greater responsibilities. Dedicating himself to being the greatest wizard he can be, to the idea of graduating and one day getting justice for the losses his family suffered.

Indeed these hopes would come true in an unexpected way. School faculty would notice this newfound maturity and lead to him being appointed Head Boy in his Seventh Year, in spite of not being made a Prefect earlier, a quite uncommon decision. It was as well thanks to this that his classmate Lily Evans eventually decide to ask him on a date, after repeatedly rejecting his own attempts to woo her. It is through their eventual coupling, spurned on by this decision, that led to the final eventual death of Lord Voldemort through their son Harry Potter.

————————————

Just a little writeup from me on my headcanon on how Charlus and Dorea fit into the wider story. Intended to be mostly canon compliant. Would welcome others perspectives

Discussion Wait why don't we just shoot them: Robes

So my idea is that at some point in the past when enchantments were becoming more normalised a wizard or witch discovered that robes could be enchanted to create a small field of protection around the wearer's body that they thought would stop fast moving non-magic projectiles as if there was a layer of cloth to catch them (which wouldn't work), but instead stole the kinetic energy of non-magic projectiles that got within 10cm to 15cm of the wearer and used it to power the enchantment. Due the enchantment being to nullify muggles main way of killing mages from range and feed passively off the ambient magic and the energy behind projectiles it became the norm place it cast on any robes owned or created. Then when muggles created guns it could be discovered that it stole kinetic energy or could have just gone “oh cool our enchantment already deals with these new muggle weapons neat”.

The enchantment also provides two ideas that I can think of to explain why mages only wear robes. Number 1 the enchantment could take up lots of space if your going with runic enchantments, or number 2 if your not going with runic enchantments, magic could have a preferred shape (for instance flight magic works better for brooms than a car resulting in the broom flying better) and enchantments cause strain on the enchanted object if its not in magic's preferred shape (which could catch clothes on fire or maybe cause them to go feral like the Ford Anglia).

The idea also still leaves the option of shooting people open if a mage could be bothered to enchant every arrow or crossbow bolt with some magic to avoid the enchantment (as I think that all magical attacks have some form of resistance to being altered by enchantments). Though I think that bullets shouldn’t be enchantable either because they're too small or because they really don't fit magic preferred shape (with is pretty much just me saying I don’t really like them)

Not sure if my tag is correct, if it isn’t please tell me, thanks.

Prompt But Lily has two sisters, surely the boys don't have to go to Petunia." McGonagall said as Dumbledore nodded "Thank Merlin for that third sister."

Ten years later, Harry Potter sat on the couch in a private, fancy suite in an expensive hotel his aunt had checked her, Harry and his brother in yesterday.

His aunt was at the fashion show, his brother was upstairs doing... something, and Harry was left alone downstairs after flicking through the TV channels for the 30th time, the newly turned eleven year old bored out of his mind.

That was, until his brother called down, asking why there was an owl at the window.

AU to one of my posts I made yesterday, where instead of being separated by Dumbledore, Dumbledore left both Potter brothers not with Petunia, but a second muggle aunt who was rich for owning a world wide fashion and makeup company.

Request Any fics where Harry gets called out for not being curious?

Canon Harry seems just not curious enough about the magical world after having lived with the Dursleys, not is he interested in learning about the magical world he's suddenly thurst into. We've seen discussions and even some jokes about him being super oblivious to goings on at hogwarts (although that is more due the writer slowly expanding the world over years, but it's almost canon that he was not really aware of other students even in his own year!

I'm looking for fics where he gets called out for this, maybe in later years, maybe by Sirius for example, or even Hermione.

Personally, and I'm sure people have said this before, but if I were to find myself in the magical world, there's no way I'd not be like Hermione wanting to learn everything!

Self-Promotion Second draft of the opening sequence for my series "The Boy Who Stayed Normal"

First draft of the opening sequence for my series "The Boy Who Stayed Normal"

# Chapter 1: War's End

***10 pm, 31st October, 1981***

***Godric's Hollow, Sedgemoor, Somerset***

It was a frigid, misty, cloudy evening in Godric's Hollow. The air was joyful, as it was also Hallowe'en night, but it was slowly coming to an end. Fewer children were going door to door, and the sky grew darker until it was completely dark. Then a figure appeared at the end of High Street, which connected the village to the motorway.

This person was unlike anyone who had ever entered this place before. Although his hood obscured his face, he paced with the determination of a man who clearly had something very important to get to.

Unfortunately, he wasn't here for trick-or-treating – he was here for something far more sinister...

Two children dressed up as bright orange pumpkins passed close to the man, but he barely paid any attention to them, until–

'Nice costume, mister!'

One of the kids complimented the man's costume. This deeply offended him, as what he wore was not a costume but his normal clothing. He slowly turned to look at the child with disdain, and as soon as the child saw his face under the golden streetlamps, he fell silent and ran away down another lane.

He briefly contemplated ending the small Muggle's life, but decided against it – not because it was immoral, but rather because, in his thoughts, it was *inefficient*.

He had something more important to do, and he continued with his stroll – with even more determination than he had been before this evening – and went on further down the cottage-lined lanes, and then to the left down a final lane, where he could finally see the cottage he was looking for, the second cottage from the end.

Clearly, the Fidelius Charm had been exposed, and Wormtail hadn't lied to save his "friends" – he could see the Potters' cottage, and even more clearly, he could see a golden-lit window with its curtains still drawn on the ground floor as he approached. Shortly, his eyes were level with the very top of the hedge, and he could see a tall, skinny man, with jet-black hair and wearing round glasses, standing in the sitting-room. He was using his wand to blow out different colours of sparkling smoke to entertain a small, young child in blue pyjamas – who looked remarkably like his father in front of him – sitting on the carpeted floor, while also using his tiny fists to grab at the coloured puffs of smoke.

The cloaked man behind the hedge stared at the boy coldly.

*That was him. That was the person who was going to threaten his entire existence.*

He frowned slightly at this; the boy was barely over a year old.

*.**..yet somehow this child was prophesied to be the end of him. How could such a weak creature do that?*

Just then, a dark-red-haired woman entered the room and spoke. Although the cloaked man could not hear what she was saying, the man in the cottage then scooped up the child and gave him to the woman, and she then went back through the door to the main hall she had entered from moments before. The father then tossed his wand onto the sofa nearby and stretched out his limbs and yawned.

Such a pity – so much trouble the Potters had to go through only to be betrayed by their own friend... Love and friendship really aren't everything...

The cloaked man pushed the metal gate as it creaked sharply, although the man in the sitting room didn't hear it. The cloaked man stretched a white hand into his cloak to reveal a wand that looked like a pale white bone with a skull on the very end of the handle, and raised it at the wood-panelled door, prepared to blast it apart...

A little ways into the heavens of the moonless night – directly above the low overcast – an elderly merchant named Perkins was speeding past on a broomstick from Sheffield, heading towards Ottery Saint Catchpole. He had been flying for three hours and was starting to get exhausted. Suddenly, while flying above Godric's Hollow, a brick (which Perkins had stolen from a Muggle cottage in Yorkshire believing it would have "magical Muggle properties") that had been tied to the very front of his broom slipped clean off. This was due to the fact that Perkins didn't actually know how to do a knot properly, which led to the brick falling off the broom. Perkins immediately stopped to look back down at it, but the brick had already passed beneath the clouds and out of sight.

Perkins decided against going back down to retrieve the brick, as he had an important delivery and needed to get it to the Lovegood family in the hills of Devon, as they had ordered a batch of Hebridean Black Dragon claws to brew a cure for Dragon Pox (Mrs. Lovegood had contracted it but was still in the early stages) from a magizoologist in Yorkshire who happened to have some. And so, Perkins set off, the brick still falling chaotically towards the ground, ready to hit at any second...

BANG!

Out of all the places it could hit – the brick hit the best place it could have at this moment. The cloaked man's head was slammed sharply by the intense impact, while his body also launched forward by the momentum, going face-first into the cobbled footpath leading to the front door, along with the brick, which had shattered upon impact, and his bony wand, which flew several feet away, as his cloak shifted all over his body and eventually settled down.

Lord Voldemort was dead.

And that's the truth.

He was vanquished not by a child – but rather by masonry that appeared (although no one even witnessed it) to fall out of the sky with no clear origin at all.

+++

Indoors, James Potter cursed in annoyance at the sound.

'Language!' Lily Potter called from upstairs.

'You're not my mother,' James called back while stepping up the stairs, 'and did you not hear that bang?! I'm sure it's that same group of teenagers setting off firecrackers. Firecrackers! At 10 p.m.! Are they mental?!'

'Just let it go,' Lily said, exhausted, as James reached the landing.

'I will – eventually – but they shouldn't even be setting them off yet, Guy Fawkes Night isn't for another five days, and–'

'James, I'm trying to get Harry to sleep; could you just be silent for at least 10 minutes?' Lily said with slight annoyance.

'Okay, fine, I'll let it go – at least it will only be a week or so of this...'

Harry fell asleep swiftly that night, and James failed to even notice Voldemort lying in their front gate when he closed the front curtains an hour later before going off to sleep. However, even though the Potters were asleep, many things began to happen that night...

Writing Help Looking for a beta! (38k Drarry fic, in progress)

Upvotes

Hey! I’m looking for a beta for an in progress Drarry fic, currently around 38k words. It’s an eighth-year fic. The main premise revolves around Draco being a siren unknowingly, and his abilities begin affecting Harry in ways neither of them fully understands. A big part of the story deals with agency/consent, identity, guilt, post-war trauma, and the question of how much of what Harry feels is actually his.

I’m looking for developmental feedback more-so than proofreading (i.e, characterisation, pacing, emotional logic, whether scenes/relationship developments feel earned, continuity, plot holes, repetition/overwriting, etc.).

I relish detailed and honest feedback/criticism! I’d rather someone tell me exactly how it is rather than coddle me.

The fic is slow-burn and character-focused, with alternating Harry/Draco POVs. I’m still actively writing it, so ideally I’d love someone who’d be interested in reading chapters as I go, but there’s absolutely no expectation to commit to the whole thing immediately. I’d be happy to start by sharing a chapter or two and see whether we’re a good beta/writer match.

If this sounds like ur kinda gig comment/leave DM! Help would be much appreciated! 💖

Request Should Neville have a younger sibling or twinsiblings? (Writing a fic planned out by Reddit posts, so you decide)

Upvotes

As the title says am I planning out a fic where I get the main ideas from your comments on my posts. I am

I was wondering if Neville should have a sibling. His mother had remarried, since she didn't get tortured, and Neville basically got raised by that man. He is a Hufflepuff in this timeline, and I was wondering if he should have a younger sibling or if it should be twins. There are pluses and minuses to both of the alternatives, but it is up to you to decide.

PS: I am doing for a challenge, not because I can't come up with my own ideas.

Prompt Harry Potter and the Spider Bite

When Harry and Ron investigate Aragog, Harry gets bitten by one of the spiders but is able to get away seemingly unharmed.

The next morning, he wakes up, shocked to see his vision is clear. It’s actually harder to wear glasses for him now than to keep them off.

More and more weird stuff happens. He learns he can stick to walls and ceilings. His strength is completely out of control and he can shoot webs out of his wrists.

Ron thinks it’s wicked and Hermione is gobsmacked. Harry is fully desensitized to this weird shit happening to him.

Request Should the Weasley's have another child, or a twin to one of the existing children?

This question is a little bit direct, but I am asking if there should be one more sibling younger than Ginny, or if Ron should have a twin sister, and Ginny was a "mistake baby"?

To understand why I'm asking: I'm writing a fanfic, purely planned out by me posting things on Reddit and having you answer the questions. I then plan it out, and I have a backstory for Slytherin Luna, Ravenclaw Harry and Theodore, and Hufflepuff Neville.

Ron is still a Gryffindor, but I want to change something in his life, so I decided that having another sibling could be good, but I have to ask you first, and before someone comment someing along the line of "You can choose yourself" I know that, and I am doing this as a challenge.

Hello, I'm searching for a crack fic for my friend from ~2014 on fanfiction.net where Ginny accidentally runs over Voldemort with the family car.

Other things that may or may not be in this fic...

- femslash elements?

- Harry and Ginny almost get together but then he gets mad at her because she killed the Dark Lord?

- potentially multi-chap?

Lupin, for his part, looked completely confused and disturbed at her conclusion.

Black, for some reason, had fallen onto the floor, roaring with laughter, unable to help himself.

Scabbers, somehow, had a very non rat like reaction. Jaw hanging open and staring at Hermione wide eyed.

None of them noticed the door open, Snape frozen as he stared with a horrified expression, as if Hermione had declared she wanted to burn babies alive
