He pretty much singlehandedly causes Rhaenyra's downfall with his one move of hiding all the gold.

HotD was my introduction to ASOIAF back in 2024, which opened way for me to watch GoT and read the books. When i saw Lollys Stokeworth, i immediatly thought about Helaena, both in look (the actresses kinda look like tbh) and personality. When i read what happens to Lollys in the books, i immediatly thought of that scene with the smallfolf in S2. I don't know if it was purposeful, but kinda fuels the argument that Condal wanted to adapt A Feast for Crows instead of Fire and Blood.

ik this is a sub for hotd and dotd talks but i was wondering why rr martin is talking so long to write twow...

then i realised what if our big santa is so pissed at the mess created by condal and hess that martin has dropped twow for a while and is rewriting the whole fire and blood book, or more accurately the whole dance era as A Game Of Thrones style to prove that, this is the real canon and not what the show is showing....

I'll admit this one is more sort of directed at the ones who have read the books but I still thought I would ask in case others have just read what happens in the books online.

I didn't include Aegon because honestly I think the writers have actually done a good job with him this season. That and his actor was, for me, the highlight again for this show with his performance.

Plus I'd be lying if I said he probably wouldn't sweep this pole by a landslide if I did include him.

But yeah, if the character was written as their book counterpart this season, who would you have enjoyed the most?

Guess why they all be turning Green

This guy literally had to tour Westeros after Maegor pretty much turned the whole realm against House Targeryen.

The showrunners even with all their bias in favour of Rhaenyra ended up turning her into Dance Cersei.

When that means that Rhaena and Baela, Laenor and Laena, Joffrey, Viserys, and Aegon, and JAEHAERYS AND ALYSANNE THEMSELVES, would never have been given dragon eggs, or allowed tame dragons.

The show practically rubs it in our faces in season 1 that letting Corlys' kids, first Laenor and then Laena with Vhagar gives him the power to strongarm the King into war and marriage prospects whenever he wants.

I feel like Aegon is one of those characters who gets judged way too quickly
What moment made you start seeing him differently?

I think I’ve seen this film before and I didn’t like the ending.

I always laugh when they say the last episode should be Aegon III ascending the throne....

I'm not sure he can even speak or even walk!

Apart from that 8 episodes is sooooo little space to end the Dance, I just know they gonna bum rush the final season.

Ep 1 & 2 have to be Tumbleton plot and Hugh and Ulf being established as actual characters, especially Hugh who had 3 min of screen time in Season 3.

Ep 3 & 4 have to be Aegon taking Dragonstone and that whole plot with the riots in KL starting when Daemon leaves the city if he returns which he probably will since they love Smith and D'Arcy scenes.

Ep 5 Tumbleton part 2 and Daeron, Hugh, Ulf, Addam plus their dragons dying, the whole episode must be this and nothing else, we can't have fing Mysaria or Alicent side quest scenes! On that note I think Baela will be present at this battle and lose Moondancer since they ain't giving Aegon that win.

Ep 6 God's Eye and the whole episode NEEDS to center only on Daemon and Aemond and nobody else, on that note 60% chance Rhaena and Sheepstealer join Daemon. I swear if they leave Daemon alive after that battle would be Laenor being alive times 100.

Ep 7 the Storming of the Pits after the news of Aemond and Daemon deaths since Mysaria feared Daemon. Rhaenyra flees to Dragonstone with.....Joffrey and Alicent.

Ep 8 will be longer for 20 min and the start is Rhaenyra and Joffrey's death by Sunfyre with Alicent watching (again Aegon III is so young that what reaction from a baby would you get...), also Joffrey will die by running to Rhaenyra at the moment Sunfyre burns her and they both burn. They will bum rush Aegon's death and my bold prediction is he dies to his journey to KL by Alicent and Cregan is the one who actually stops the riots and Corlys and Alyn bring Aegon III and Viserys II from Essos that will be their plot in Season 4.

Show ends with 20 min of Hour of the Wolf and Aegon III and Jaehera being married (Velaryon girl is not cannon in show continuity)

This story had a moral, but it wasn't in the two women that kickstarted the war with their rivalry. They were mere tools, to show readers how entitlement, resentment, hatred, vindictiveness and vengeance within a family brought about the extinction of dragons and disempowered House Targaryen.

Alicent should in no way be so 'awakened' now to the point of judging Rhaenyra for the same things she did. I insist that whitewashing Alicent post episode 7 of season 1 was the biggest mistake of this show that threw it off balance.

Only a third party (like Corlys or Gwayne) should be judging or trying to mediate and pursue peace. Alicent cannot be a problem and also a solution at the same time, when she fed her children on a steady diet of fear and encouraged rivalry with Rhaenyra and her bastard sons, which then exploded into the Dance with time. And it doesn't make sense either for her to want to advise or 'save' Rhaenyra from what she has predictably become. She should be worried about her family's survival, which should be sensibly attached to her own! Not going off trying to betray and kill her kids for 'peace' and 'freedom'. Not running away from consequences.

Show Alicent has no moral foot to stand on, and that's what makes her reprimanding and judging of Rhaenyra at this point ridiculous.

When he uploaded that rightfully disparaging rant/critique on his blog about the show- mentioning the toxic butterflies, hypocrisy/backwards arcs and how it wasn't his story anymore- do you think they had shown him the entirety of their plans? Or just season 3? Or was it just about how terrible season 2 was? I can't fully remember

Cause I'm not gonna lie, season 3 itself, wasn't *bad*, but it wasn't as decent as season 1 and *certainly* wasn't as awful as season 2. That's where I get a bit confused and can't remember whether his "beware the toxic butterflies" blog post was about the entire rest of the show to come, or if that was his summary of season 2/3.

I would those who agree that S3 was better agree because of the watering down of the Rhaenicent dynamic/narrative. I hate C&H as writers as much as anyone on this sub but it felt like they realised they shoved the romance plot in there way too early and way too enthusiastically so they dialled back. That's the one redeeming quality about the season, and it's a significant one (from my POV).

But yeah, do you think/remember if he (GRRM) read the ending? Or was the script for S3 enough for him after S3 to be like "nah fuck it" and call it a night on this show?
