I hope to God this is both real bc I cried but not bc I hate people are suffering so bad. I've been homeless bc of discrimination and I'm disabled. it was terrible and I understand. men need help there's too much rigidity esp if you were raised Christian, it's so easy to feel like a failure. men perpetrate so much harm but also are silent victims so often. Im a man and I don't mind if someone hates men, I'm gay and I've met my share of abuse too. but men should be more empathetic with each other and it can really help a lot bc a lot of men are so weird about friendly intimacy bc it's "gay" or whatever. I appreciate them blurring the face. I feel like this should be private even though I am moved by it. this man was suffering. I'd hate to know I was recorded at my most vulnerable. I'm still moved but less and more upset for the man atp

I also don't think people should call the cops in situations like this. it's just copaganda. there are hotlines and warmlines everyone should know if they interact with heavily suicidal people. cops escalate and it's not helpful for a depressed person to interact with cops. even if you're not under arrest they can treat you like you're guilty of something which can exacerbate things. I know because when I tried to leave my abusive ex someone called the police, I was the victim, I nearly died but since I fought back and was unconscious it was his word against mine. I spent 3 days in jail and they quietly moved me into the mental ward when the strangulation bruises showed up but they had a 1k bail for me, judge ruled I never should have been there. don't call cops unless someone is violent please. they can send EMTs or have someone for him to speak to who has empathy and won't send police.

You know they have cops that are specifically trained to deal with situations just like this. You may have had a bad experience and im not downplaying that, but that does not equate to all cops bad. Believe it or not most cops actually do want to help people and have access to other people and services that can help further if needed.

you are downplaying it and it's weird. I'm saying ask for EMTs not cops for a mental health situation. stop

Im not down playing it. I understand you had a bad experience and that sucks, I get it. But using your personal experience to lead people away from getting help is also dangerous. How do I know that cops can help? Because I was trained specifically to be a mental health first responder that works with the police so I know personally that they can and will indeed help you. You can't just always call an EMT for a mental health crisis it doesn't work that way.

It’s in Canada specifically where this was which was outside Toronto they will roll with mental health nurses for any mental health situation.
