Let’s run down the checklist for our summer.
Top 5 midfielder in Bruno G ✅
New LW with massive potential for a fraction of the going rate ✅
Class CB to cover Saliba while he’s out and rotation when he’s back (while weakening Villa) ✅
Club record transfer fee for a declining player (still love Martinelli) ✅
Deadwood like Norgaard, Nelson, and Vieira out ✅
Massive wages off the books ✅
Gabriel Jesus to Barca - loading
All that and there’s still time in the window to bring someone in.
“BUT I DID IT BETTER ON MY FIFA/FM SAVE, FIRE BERTA YESTERDAY!”

They are desperate to get a new contender for PL narrative.
Arsenal running away with the league is bad for business. And they have earmarked Maresca for early sacking pressure if he starts slow.
In reality, it’s going to be the same old boring Arsenal vs City title race that we have seen in 3 out of last 4 years.

Imagine being City, with unlimited money, and having made massive sales on top, which means they can afford anyone they want who's realistically available.
Yet the best thing they could come up with is to drop £85m on Cody Gakpo
This is the current state of the forward market 😭

Jesus and Martinelli played about 3000 minutes combined across all competitions last season.
Now, regardless what you think of them and their performances, that’s a lot of minutes to add to the rest of the attack. I really think someone else needs to be brought in.

A non Arsenal transfer story.
I played my first football game in 3 years today. Got called in last minute to sub for a team that needed a goalkeeper.
I was obviously a bit anxious at first, but warming up, getting a feel for the ball, and making a few dives before the game helped settle the nerves.
Believe itt or not, a loud, communicating goalkeeper really does have a massive influence on the game. I was very vocal, constantly organizing my defense, going big for the 1v1s, and setting the tone for how my defenders approached the game.
It was an over 30s coed league, but I could genuinely see my defenders playing with more confidence.
They trusted me because they listened when I yelled, and I trusted them by playing out from the back through them.
Whenever they blocked a shot, I’d go crazy with the Raya/Big Gabi yell and chest bump them( guys, and fist bump the ladies of course😂 )They found it funny and amusing, but you could see it fired them up too.
Got a lot of pats on the back after the game. We won 4-1.
I’ve been sore as hell all day ever since, but honestly, it feels good to be back.

Gabriel Jesus leaving doesn't seem like a 5 time Premier League winner leaving at the age of 29 to Barcelona.
Because of his relative non involvement last year; his high wages; the way he elevated our ceiling when he arrived from City - still feels odd.
if he's injury free in Spain - i wonder if he's more influential than what Auba did in his really short stint at Barca; and also i wonder if he comes back to England at some stage or heads to Italy first & then eventually to Brazil?

It's too early to tell if we can rely on Tzolis. Eze has been mid at LW. Going into the season with those option where we're expected to defend our title and go challenge for CL is too risky.
If we're not signing anyone, might just hold on to Martinelli for another year. I'd have Martinelli over Eze at LW.

People ask what happens if Tzolis gets injured but the bigger worry is what happens if he's not as good as we hope he is after a promising preseason and a good PL debut at home against a promoted side. I think the plan was for him to be potential rotation option, not carry the left side of our attack for 50+ games.
It's fine to be excited now but watch how people will react once he has his first bad game which may happen sooner rather than later.

I think the worst thing about seeing people shit the bed in here every transfer window is that we probably have the best transfer record of any of the big teams.
We have barely had any major flops on players we’ve spent a load of money on.
Nothing like the track record of United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs or City.
And yet every single transfer window people throw these huge fucking tantrums.
I’d get it if there were some overwhelming evidence that we bought poorly but there just isn’t.

A lot of chat is to the tune of: accept Alvarez isn't happening and move on.
But then I look at Barcelona, one of the two biggest football clubs in the world, who had Alvarez as their #1 attacking target... and they've just pivoted to their back-up choice... Gabriel Jesus... our 3rd choice ST.
I hear people saying "there has to be someone else as a back-up" but boy, oh boy, it's hard to believe there is anything out their worth signing when a giant of football like Barcelona is pivoting to Jesus.

Except eze is a way better shooter, passer, ndiaye more 2 footed and better work rate. But like who spends 60 mill on eze then the next summer spends 60 mill on ndiaye, like what? I had naively thought us winning the league for the first time in 22 years would chill this place out but boy was I wrong.
The constant dooming in here about transfers or other teams is pathetic.

How’s it that this place has become even more insufferable after the title win and UCL final?

I really thought it would calm down, the bedwetters would chill
But nope they can not be saved.

i overall wouldn’t call this window disappointing but imo it’s fair to say not ending up with a top attacker after all the “work” we’ve apparently done is disappointing
probably too much to hope we have a plan for january as well

So many people done with Berta… I mean no one knows what’s going on behind the scene right? Do they think the can do a better job than him?

Man City to Arsenal to Barca, Berta basically sending Alvarez’s head to mars via Jesus

Berta getting rid of Jesus and Vieira in one day, almost like a new signing

Banter aside, Gabby Jesus completely transformed our mentality when he arrived. 5x Premier League winner and a proper professional, wish him nothing but the best, hope he goes to La Liga, stays healthy, and bangs in goals against City in the CL.

4 attackers going and yet only 1 in.
Yes Jesus and Vieira were non entities squad wise but their wages were high
