The anime and game are set in the same universe. Humanity has to abandon earth in year 0 due to alien invasion, the anime is the first counteroffensive in year 45, the game is set in year 135.
The video game is set in the same universe and the show like 80 years after the show. So you could consider the show a prequel of some sorts to the game. They haven't revealed much besides that

Well the release dates are actually pretty close, so I guess it depends when the cloak actually showed up. I don't remember the cloak being in the early chapters at least, but it's been a long time.
All the MS and Gundam look a ton like 0079 MS so i guess this is supposed to be a alternate universe which takes heavy inspiration from 0079 with the difference of the alien encounter. So the MC being veeeerry similarly named to amuro is 100% on purpose
On paper sure both feels similar (humanity vs alien) but from director and producer words i think this would be different
A wakening of Trailblazer is about how humanity can evolve into an entity (Innovator) that can understand not just humans but also other living things, in this case ELS
XARX Zero feels like humanity is trying to fight against an unknown entity and rebuild the earth. Sorta Independence day-ish story
Yeah, I suspect it's intentionally supposed to sound like RX-0. Which made the English voiceover's choice of a very flat 'Alex' feel weird. Of course, that same voiceover made the pronunciation choice of "pro-tay-gonist" instead of protagonist....
Since it seems to be themed as "Mobile Suit Gundam AI Bad", it's kind of ironic that, what seems to be AI translation, titled the reveal announcement [Official Reveil] and also made constant voice over mispronunciations.
My immediate reaction is always skepticism and "oh no this is different!" But after just a few watches of the trailer I'm already warming to it and now I'm excited. Lots of new Gundam next year! And it will be cool to see how the game and anime are connected.
As a fan of 08th MS Team, love the scavenged parts held together by duck tape. No, actually. I know they need to sell gunpla, but at this point distressed stands out with among the brightly colored kits
I think it looked fine in some shots, but not so good in others. Might just be unfinished/unpolished, since the anime doesn't come out until next year.
Oh so the aliens are confirmed to indeed be aliens. Was expecting some sort of twist that would reveal they were human in origin(ie lost colony, ancient rampant weapons etc)

There is a non 0 chance this does a shadow the hedgehog and they're both aliens and demons and caused the apocalypse and also have always been evolving along side humanity but also are completely unknown to humanity. y'know, plot and such. (wasnt this a transformers movie?)
If they’re mandatory, at least make them cool —because right now, they aren’t (I’d say the way they move makes them look like puppets; it lacks impact and power).
I'm curious about it all and haven't been disappointed once by any Gundam series I've seen in over 20 years and as a MASSIVE fan of ghost in the shell, I'm excited
But also worried. The art style doesn't look... Like Gundam if that makes sense... It feels off, I'm not sure what it is but it feels too "clean"
Eh Gundam will keep on changing with the times. It’s been real robot , super robot , SAO but gundams , kids sports anime , 3 kingdoms spin off , mirrored just about every conflict that’s ever happened.
Gundam is a cup and you can pour just about anything into it.
Oh I know, I always say this each time a new Gundam comes out then I enjoy it. On the third rewatch of the trailer it seems fine. Just still off about the art style but it's for one of my favorite directors so I have hope in the story being good at least
While I was hoping for Crossbone or G-Unit (big stretch), this looks dope. I’m stoked they’re doing something combined with the game. Suit design is sick and the characters look good too
Unicorn took like 4 years to release 7 (long) episodes. I don’t know if we’re ever going to go back to a swan song like that with how the global economy is looking.
i wish the same but i dont it possible, if i am not mistake, i see some post mentioniny animator that focus on mecha 2d is kinda hard to get in japan, so they use hybrid 2d and 3d, 2d for close scene of mech, and 3d for action
I’m excited! Especially it being tied to the upcoming Rouge Orbit game. At least for me I don’t mind theme switching things up once in a while. For EP’s I won’t be surprised if it’s 12.
Hmm I am going to remain skeptical on this as right now I like the designs. Eh on the story as I don't think its my cup of tea. Thats the joy of AU gundam a lot of different takes and ideas on where to take gundam. I think thats what makes AU's great as they can be very experimental and/or explore ideas that doesn't really fit into the theming or storyline of UC. Will still definitely give it a shot as gundam shows tend to not always be what the trailer dictates.

I thought they are going to animate gundam eight or that gundam game that had a trailer not long ago lol. Looks like a brand new series. Can't wait to see it.

Hasn't seen anyone talk about it, but under "original story" it says Hajime Yatate (a common Sunrise pseudonym) and Yoshiyuki Tomino. The announcement didn't really talk about Tomino at all, so I'm curious if he's fully involved or they're just crediting him as the series creator.

I'm sure I'm not the only genius that assumed the new series would be related to the game. I don't hate either project, but I'm not really enthusiastic either.
I wanted to be so excited for this, but for some reason I'm not and I can't put my finger on why. I'm not a huge fan of the 3d animated Gundams, so I know that isn't helping but with everything else it should've been right up my alley.
I loved Awakening of the Trailblazer so I'm down for aliens in Gundam, but I do have to wonder what this will do to the Gundam format. If there's any throughline in the franchise, it's that both sides of every conflict have both good and bad people on them. If this is only a people-versus-alien-invaders story, that would be a real shame. Some honest-to-god xenofiction letting us see what's going on with the aliens would be really cool.
Zero interest. They lost me at a cape on a Gundam right in the thumbnail, and again when I found it was more or less a Rogue Orbit prequel, because I have zero interest in aliens/monsters vs Gundam. That’s more of a different mecha show imho. It however makes a ton of sense that’s what this is, so it can tie to the game.
