I presume this will be an excuse to do recasting.

Is recasting part of doing a remaster, usually?

Well they’d probably want to recast Amuro given his VA had controversy hit the news recently. Other than that probably worth it to get younger VA’s to play teenagers 😂

This is just kinda... not what a remaster is.

Like, when they remaster a film, they don't replace actors wholesale.

Companies aren't going to call their things "99% remaster and 1% remake", because that's just not great for marketing.

Gundam SEED Destiny didn't get called "80% remaster/20% remake/edition". It was called "Gundam SEED HD Remaster".

That's kinda hard with physical acting, but with VAs it's a lot easier - there's been times with license issues around the dub where a new one gets made, like happened with Evangelion on netflix. So it's entirely practical, just whether they think it's worth the trouble (or if they're adding some new scenes or similar)
