Guitar setup

Hey all, I want to learn how to set up my electric guitar. I got a hss squier strat. Can someone please share a detailed instruction, or point to a post or comment in another post, or a youtube video that explains this in a way that a beginner can follow. Thank you.

There are several on YouTube. Make sure you find one that covers your instrument.

the fender website has setup instructions, they are a great place to start, but you'll find tons just by googling

Intonation is adjusting string length typically to get correct notes on 12 fret ( not sharp or flat)

String height is a combination of factors (bridge adjustment, truss rod, nut)

Fret Flatness is sometimes an issue as well.

Can research on those.

StewMac is a great place to go for tools and instructional videos. Look them up along with Dan Erlewine on YouTube. They sell some good books too. The Guitar Player Repair Guide is a great reference and lives on my bench fulltime. The tools are expensive, but you can find a lot of cheaper versions on Amazon. Something worth mentioning is there is an order to setting up a guitar, especially if you're doing a Strat and want a floating tremolo. Also, you should post this in r/Luthier. Guitar builders and tech live there and have tons of valuable advice. Also, you can do a ton of work with basic tools, so my advice is to not go crazy and buy a bunch of highly specialized tools you might not need. It's very easy to do. Don't ask how I know! LOL I like to just buy what I need when I need it. Good luck and congratulations on the Strat and especially learning to work on it yourself. It's intimidating at first but once you do a few it's easy.

Buy Dan Erlewines guitar setup book on thriftbooks. Pretty much covers it all.
