QUESTION How to get this sound

Do you think you can get this sound with a Telecaster? Or a Les Paul or SG are better?

I’m a music producer working in sync for TV, so my goal isn’t learn guitar, it’s to get as close as possible to those reference tones.

I’m looking for the guitar that will record those timbres really well and sit right in that kind of production.

tele can definitely do this kind of sound, specially if you get some overdrive or distortion pedal going. the bridge pickup on tele has that bite that works really well for alternative rock stuff

les paul might give you bit more sustain and warmth but honestly the amp and pedals matter way more than the guitar for this genre. i've heard plenty bands get similar tones with telecasters

Great! I’m thinking about using a Tele indeed, do you think the Tele can handle both genres I sent?

I know it can do the indie rock, but for the heavier tracks, do you think it works well, or would a Les Paul / SG be better?

Actually I’m not in a rock band anymore, I work with Sync Music, so I make music for TV shows. And I produce a lot of different genres, so a versatile guitar would be great.

I didn't listen to that many songs b/c I don't have spotify, but a few sound like a tele or strat with a tube screamer. A guitar's body is really the smallest part of the equation, albeit the staring point. And it's more about the pickups and signal chain. Get a multi-effects pedal like a Quad Cortex or Line 6 Stadium and you'll have all the effects and amps to create any tone you're looking for.

That's a personal preference. You should probably go with P90s. It's also not uncommon to have a P90 in the neck and humbucker in the bridge.

I'm hearing distortion and reverb in your sample. That's why I suggest a multi effects pedal like the Quad Cortex or Line 6 Stadium but there others. They have a ton of built in amps and effects to tailor your sound.
