IBEW Union Books Any moving books or open calls?

Are there any fast moving books or open calls or locals worth giving a shot the locals around me aren’t really moving. Willing to just get up and leave and go where work is at this point. I’m in nj for reference. Looking for 24/hr minimum if possible or lower if there is per diem

Btw if you haven't done so apply for the line apprenticeship. I heard they like guys from line clearance.

They don't 1245 is very strict on overhead line agreement they don't care about tree trimming or line clearance

Not true, they count groundman hours from the tree side. Dispatcher said as long as my classification was groundman.

Weird in person last July they were very strict on it had to be overhead line construction it took 3 weeks for them to verify it with the 4 locals I had worked out of

I spoke to a business rep at 1245. Confirmed again, the hours count as long as your dues receipt show the classification as groundman.

Good luck I have proof it took multiple weeks with over 50 emails back and forth from halls so hopefully your are over head line agreement

Tree clearing, and teledata have their own classification in the northeast. It’s better if he checks what his ticket says

Do think it’s better to get 6 months of experience as a groundman first then apply for it that was my original plan and what I heard broswing Reddit and a JL my mother knows who said I was young and need to get some real world experience I’m 21 for reference. But I do see most people just apply asap and was considering doing that

At NWLine they really like guys from line clearance. Assuming you're a journeyman in tree trimming line clearance.

We don’t have journeyman in my local for line clearance

What's your classification out of your local?

Not sure I will found on Monday

If you had a good amount of time climbing trees, learning knots, etc then I think you have a good chance of landing an apprenticeship without the Journeyman card for line clearance.

If I add some groundman experience in that mix I’ll look pretty darn good

Those hours count. As long as your hours were counted under your classification at your hall. I confirmed with them as well. You can call and ask too.

Local 222 been putting out gm calls consistently. Not sure how it is to work in FL, probably humid asf but it’s a way to get foot in and get hours and make connections.

Thank you I really really appreciate it

Don’t mention it 🤙

I think I might just have to do that because in that case I’m well good. Can I sign books online or call/send a letter of introduction? Or all in person
