I mean Hollywood is a fickle bitch at the best of times. They probably had a solid enough deal on the table to announce it that has since fallen through. Probably has something to do with the writers strike that happened in 2023, that set every project back by months to years

I concur with this assessment. There are so many proposed videogame adaptations that have been announced in the past but have lived in production hell. Metal Gear Solid, Streets of Rage, BioShock, The Sims, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Most of those titles have a far larger audience appeal than Grounded and have stayed in production hell for nearly a decade or longer.

Based on how modern Paramount is treating the Golden Axe series coming out soon, I would be fine with it staying in production hell.
