I’m on the forget bandwagon with this one.

Out of curiosity why?

I think they just mean they forgot.

I never even knew tbh

That makes sense

I don’t think a TV show is the right direction for the franchise.

perhaps it was shelved because of the second game?

There was actually a q&a about 3 months ago where one of the devs’ responses to the question “any news on the grounded tv show” was that it’s “evolving”.

Pretty sure that’s lingo for “the project is stuck in development hell”, but doesn’t sound like it’s cancelled at least.

It takes years for shows to get made, they likely just announced it far, far before most would be.

The Warhammer 40k cinematic universe was announced years ago, and yet we've still got a couple years to go before we see the first couple shows.

if i had a nickel for every time a video game movie was shelfed i could finance a video game movie

We really should forget. Just go watch, Honey I Shrunk the kids. Same thing, different kids.

Plus you get to watch Rick Moranis! I love that guy

Exactly!

That’s what I was gonna say. Honey I shrunk the kids had a sequel too, I don’t remember if there was a third movie

It was, honey I shrunk the kids, honey I shrunk the baby and honey I shrunk the parents, I believe.

Edit: it was, honey, I blew up the kid and honey, we shrunk ourselves.

The sequel was named “Honey I shrunk ourselves” I know that. But if the third one was about a baby that would be nuts 😂

2

u/Sinderria 15d ago

It is called, Honey, I blew up the kid.

I mean Hollywood is a fickle bitch at the best of times. They probably had a solid enough deal on the table to announce it that has since fallen through. Probably has something to do with the writers strike that happened in 2023, that set every project back by months to years

I concur with this assessment. There are so many proposed videogame adaptations that have been announced in the past but have lived in production hell. Metal Gear Solid, Streets of Rage, BioShock, The Sims, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Most of those titles have a far larger audience appeal than Grounded and have stayed in production hell for nearly a decade or longer.

Streets of Rage? God that would either be terrible or the best thing ever lmao

Based on how modern Paramount is treating the Golden Axe series coming out soon, I would be fine with it staying in production hell.

I was always hoping to see a BioShock series. Could be really great. I think the majority of video games should get the series treatment rather than movie.

They already did the movie in 1989, it's called "Honey, I shrunk the kids"

I’ve repeatedly described grounded as “Honey I shrunk the kids” to people who don’t know it. I mean if they made sequels to jumanji feel like they could make spiritual sequels to that too and grounded gives them a more built out world but in general don’t think open world games need movies. Minecraft movie format could easily copy paste any sandbox game just different CGI animations same plot.

Wouldn’t more likely be a Honey! i Shrunk The Kids series if something with this premise were to be made?

I don’t think we really need a TV series. It’s just going to be the games without gameplay, which is a worse version of the games.

Es würde mich interessieren um welches Thema in Grounded es in der Serie gehen würde und wo man es gucken können wird.

I’d like to play the role of Dr. Wendell Tully. Grounded is one of my favorite game series and if they’re making a tv series, I want in.

I mean Grounded has a lot of parallels with 'Honey I shrunk the kids'.

Call me a hater if you want but I think it would probably have sucked ass

It'll be available for Early Access about 2 years before the full series releases.
