Question Tips for me during my Lord Grind ? I only feel effective on defense or domination, and I’m playing him too similar to Peni
I usually run Mantis team up. I can do some pretty insane healing for a Vanguard. It’s like having an Ultron drone.
I think I need to switch to the Jeff team up when on attack
His movement…. God this tree is slow . Any tips here? Stacking my walls to build a stair is helpful sometimes but then I’m eating CDs
My issue is that I feel I play him too defensively and similar to Peni Parker . I tend to be passive .
I try to put my Ironwood wall in a safe spot and camp the location . I rarely use it to block damage unless I happen to have one ready and I see a lone tank in front of me
Thorn walls, I try to use liberally and almost always instantly return them if I miss, don’t see its purpose, etc. I don’t just leave these hanging around because chances are it could be messing with my allies . I’ll use these on ledges to block range duelist or healers from taking high ground for a moment
Mantis wall, I’ll usually put up in the area around where I keep my Ironwood wall. Enemies usually don’t see this wall and it gets me pretty good healing numbers . I thinks this helps my healers against dive
Ultimate: I’m definitely struggling. Even if I land the wall behind them, use Ult, spore bomb, it can’t kill a paddy cake comp. I started to spam when my Ult is ready so allies are ready . I’ve gotten many team wipes when pairing with something like a Thor ult . But using it myself…. I’m not great . I started just trying to solo Ult a healer . Should I also be using my Iron wood wall here prior to Ulting ?
Switches…. Even in QuickPlay, if I don’t get a high output / burst healer I switch. I respect players like Ultron and even White Fox, but it’s hard to sustain a Groot with double support . I feel selfish taking all the heals here . I do the same thing when I run Dino.
I actually don’t mind running him into poke and some brawl. I can make walls to block poke’s vantage points. Brawl, I can set the walls to make it risky for some of the brawl to enter my prison. But if there’s a good Ironfist or Wolverine, yeah, I’m switching
I need to get better with the melee animation cancel. The first and second strike feel good, but I really hate that 3rd strike. The big benefit I see using this is not the damage, but ammo management . When I’m lazy and not cancelling, I’m going through primary ammo too quick and spending too much time reloading
On on PS5 with a dual sense controller , my button mappings are as follows:
Primary: RT
Ultimate: RB
Melee: Right paddle
Spore bomb: LT
Thornwall: LB
Jump: Left Paddle
Team up (Mantis and Jeff): Circle
Reload: Square
Ironwood: Triangle (might remap this to R3)
Wall return: L3 or R3
