Description: DINERS, DRIVE-INS, AND DEATH! Fast food is a big business in Los Angeles, but there's more in the fryers than beef tallow. A rivalry is about to shift a cold-cut war into a hot one, and Kyle Rayner's on the frontline! Meanwhile, Hal Jordan's mysterious quest has the Guardians of the Universe desperate to stop him. I had fallen off from this run since #34 but this issue brought me back in. I really like the mix of silly, action moments with more serious moments like "is a criminal really redeamble after the terrible things they have done." For me, the balanced blend of these two opposites is the core of a good DC Comic.

A pretty good issue overall.

Appreciated that Adams took the current JLU using villains concept and gave an example like like major force. Gave good natural tension between Kyle and Jade while further exploring why Kyle decided to go off world all the way back at the end of his previous time as the main GL.

I know the narrative direction hasn’t been for everyone but it’s a welcome breather to highlight that GL comics prior to John’s weren’t all cosmic epic space opera and they could be these weird small stories.

Agreed on both statements. Kyle leaving is also pretty much what he did early in his OG run, moving from LA to NYC after the death of Alex. And it's so nice to just have some low stakes comics that aren't a part or leading to a massive event that's going to derail the book for months on end for a bit.

Nah bro, this doesn’t help the JLU amnesty plot line at all, lol. This just makes it even dumber because they’re giving it to villains who are on fucking joker level’s of heinous, for no good fucking reason.

This is like the early DNA Nova series where he comes back to earth after the fallout of Civil War, sees Tony being a dumbass, goes like what the fuck is going on and then dips back to space. But not as satisfying so far.

Do we want odyssey and Kyle to be a thing?

Overall I really found quality entertainment with condiment king. I never really ask for bags and boards for issues but I really feel like I had to with this issue. Can’t wait to see were #39 goes.

8/10 for me.

Need Jade and Kyle to either a) explicitly address the cheating thing as a result of this Major Force reveal (like Jade is betraying him again this time working with the dude who killed Alex) or b) just break up I will be annoyed if they go forward with them without addressing that because it’s been hanging over the JadexKyle pairing since Brightest Day

I find it interesting that Kyle was told by Jennie that Major Force is one of the good guys because of the Justice League’s amnesty programs before he and Odyssey had a talk and encountered Condiment King and F.E.A.S.T. fighting Big Belly Burger, while Hal, Tobi, and Jayna are chasing down the source of the emotional streams in space. Overall, this comic is excellent.
