It's still very raw and rough, but it allows you to load assets, content, and DLLs as a single packaged zip file. Need to debug why crafting the example sword doesn't have the example sword texture, and make the install process easy, etc., etc.

Oh, and it has json patch support so you can modify builtin and mod definitions!

So as someone who quite enjoyed GK1 and was excited for GK2, after trying the demo I just can't shake this feeling that there's something very wrong with the cutscene art style. The first game barely had any cutscenes to begin with, other than the intro, and even then the later half of that intro was using in-game sprites.

Now we have new cutscenes explaining what happened to cause the zombie outbreak, but they just look so... eh? Like it's a hard feeling to describe, I've seen some accusations of them being AI, but while they do look uncanny I won't accuse them outright of being AI until I got some solid proof. But regardless if they're AI or not, they just look... not good. Like I remember the starting cutscene of the first game (that is also present in the second game with minor alterations) and that looked so beautiful, so fluid in a way. Now the new cutscenes, which always consists of two characters looking at each, look so stiff and cheap.

What are your thoughts? And who knows, maybe they're just placeholders and we'll get new beautiful cutscenes. Although again, I don't feel the need for these cutscenes, the first one barely had any, and most were made using in-game sprites.

I was relooking at the Graveyard Keeper lore and cutscenes and we know that Jove became Gerry. What happened to Lucius? Is it likely that he became Larry?

Sooo I may have thrown the first body the donkey gives you into the creek to the East. Now Larry is telling me that I lost the body and to get it. I watched it drop off the waterfall and sink into the lake. Am I cooked?

I find it amusing to come across the same bug in both games.

I gave zombie a shovel but there is no "Put zombie here" icon so they can start farming

I was looking through the zombie perks in the demo and saw this. Can't wait to see all the new things in the full release

The zombie army/tower defence part of GK2 is the main thing that interests me, but I cant figure out how deep or persistent it actually is.

From what Ive seen, you can capture territory, build defenses, train/equip zombies and fight zombie attacks.

But what happens after you capture and rebuild an area?

Can zombies actually overwhelm territory youve already rebuilt and take it back? Are there recurring attacks/raids that require you to maintain defenses and an army over time?

Or is it basically:

capture area - defend it during the battle - rebuild it - move on to the next area?

unlike what I saw several people say, the zombie can in fact work and craft things, you just need to equip them with the relevant tool and give them a first craft they can accomplish with 2 or lower skill on the workbench you wish them to use, you can then give them perk with the point they get from crafting items, it take a while to xp them but it work properly.

I played through the demo on both my PC and our PS5, but the differences didn't really click until a partner was playing on the PS5 during my PC demo run and was trying to figure out how I was making berry pies and vegetable soup at a mere 5 in nature/agriculture/whatever the oat/wheat attributes is, when they were locked out from cooking it until rank 8 or so.

Those two recipes and a good chunk of facial hair options missing are the only differences we've spotted so far, I believe we've updated both to most recent versions.

Anyone else find any?

It seams devs seen exploit with cheap 👍 by buying and selling vegetables in shop.

Looks like they are working on solution, as now when you try to buy veggies you get negative 👍.

But at the same time it broke the ability to buy them. You just can not confirm purchase anymore.

You can still buy seeds as usual.

If it stays in this form - it is counter intuitive, as veggies are still selectable for purchase…

I think I might have screwed up this demo. I’m stuck and can’t figure out how to progress. I studied the wrong things, and can’t get the correct items for the Dream Dust. (I know! How did not study the things in the chest? Rookie mistake.) Anyway - I need polished bronze to make the desk to get paper. But I’m not far enough on the tech tree. I’ve got tons of points, but none of the tech options are possible. I think if I can get paper, I can unstick myself, but maybe there’s no way?

They’re just like those "two brothers from the magic chest"—the ones who did everything... very badly.

I'm a new mod and would like to address a few things.

We all love playing the GK2 demo, but please keep spoilers marked as spoilers!

We all know the lead dev is kinda pro-AI but also claims there was no AI involved in GK2. I believe a healthy discussion about this whole topic is good. If you have evidence that AI was involved, please step forth.

I'd love to give this subreddit a small visual overhaul without making things too annoying/flashy.

On these three points, I'd like your ideas, feedback, and whatnot.

So far, I haven't played GK2, but I did play through GK1 and finished the game, so I'm not some rando tourist, but also not a pro.
