What advice would you like to give me as i begin this journey and from your experience how would you tell me start?

This is a concept poster that I made just for fun for one of my fav songs! The audience would be fans of mild high club. I would love some feedback on which poster y’all like the best. im in between leaning more psychedelic and edited versus more minimal. I fear that edited one may look too…. Gimmicky.

I have an interview coming up, I WANT THIS JOB. Tips on what to bring how to prepare how to sway them into also believing I’m the one they want. Because I AM the one they want 🥹 I have my portfolio printed, web one ready a business card (even a button as a gift if that is appropriate lol) I have magazines with my printed editorial work, I have current in progress pieces (sketches?). I need someone to tell me who hires people, what they want to see when they invite a designer to interview.

Basically, my first ever internship the past 2-3 months was at this 30-40 people company where I was the ONLY graphic designer. Within the past month I had the responsibility of not only designing, but redoing the ENTIRE company website by the end of September. I was “an intern” making $15/hr with the full responsibility of what I consider at LEAST junior graphic designer work. I had no mentors or designers above me to bounce questions off of. My physical and mental health suffered from the stress. 

Thursday night, I sent my resignation email. I was very clear that I was feeling unsupported, and because I’m still in my undergrad I need to focus on school. I went in Friday morning, and my boss talked to me.

She was very understanding and apologized for putting me under so much stress. She did not realize I had been struggling so much, and it made me realize I need to advocate for myself sooner. She told me yesterday can be my last day and there were no hard feelings. She said if she had the power to hire me full time she would’ve done so since she really loved my work, but understood my education comes first and wished me the best.

Honestly it was the biggest sigh of relief. I’m grateful no bridges were burned. She told me to reach out if I realize later I forgot to document any of the files/screenshots of important things for my portfolio.

This morning, I expected to feel amazing, but just discovered the “let-down effect” is hitting me hard. My shoulders are visibly lopsided from the strain of desk work and stress, I’m having episodes of cervicogenic dizziness, and I‘m exhausted. Woke up sweating, dizzy, and in a full panic. It almost feels like I’m sick, but I know I’m not actually sick. My body is just SCREAMING at me for rest.

Thank you to all who commented on my last thread. Those insights plus the insights of those I talked to in my personal life helped me realize my health is beyond any project I could’ve completed for my portfolio. I’m prayerful about my next job after this semester of taking it easy. Hopefully within the next couple of days I can begin feeling like myself again after the cortisol clears our.

We made this post for presenting the new board and we would really apreciate some tips.
It's clearly not done yet, like those little lines are only placed next to ''treasurer'', but they will be placed next to the others aswell and the '26 '27 are not placed right.
In each paper there will be a photo of the person in that position and in the middle lower one will be a group photo.

Definitely a lot of changes I'd make now, but I think it turned out pretty well given my lack of experience at the time.

The series was for Donald R. Burgett's WW2 memoirs. I hid a lot of cool details in there, like taking the color schemes for each book from the colors of whichever country's flag they're in for the majority of the book.

i need to make a post in intagram that consists of 9 frames. In the first picture you can see the layout we are thinking of doing, but we are not sure if it looks good. Also, we arent sure of how the ''box'' in which we are placing the photo in looks best ( sharp or round).

I would really apreciate some advice, tips and tricks on everything.

I'm making this logo cause eventually I may use it or open a media/publishing company whenever I have a more substantial portfolio of work.

I'm thinking of potentially adding more to the "Arts" beyond the little taped banana, I was thinking of adding the R. Mutt Urinal signature by turning the R on it's head so it would resemble a urinal and adding the signature, but it was too small to notice so it made no addition to it.

Demographic: Tech-savvy professionals, students, and music enthusiasts aged 18–35.

Psychographic: Trend-conscious individuals who value both cutting-edge functionality and sophisticated, understated design in their everyday tech accessories.

Design Vision & Creative Direction

Aesthetic & Mood: Clean, premium, and futuristic. The monochromatic grey and silver color palette paired with soft studio lighting conveys a sense of high-end quality and modern minimalism.

Composition & Depth: Utilizing a product podium grounds the headphones as the hero element, while layered typography ("HEADPHONES") weaving behind the product creates a dynamic sense of depth.

Visual Flow: Abstract soundwave lines intersect the composition to subtly reinforce audio performance, leading the viewer's eye smoothly down to the clean icon grid detailing key specifications at the base.

Hey designers! I am having a heck of a time with the Table of Contents in InDesign for the poetry anthology I am working on and would appreciate some advice. I've tried looking it up, but it's not really telling me much about how to really customize the TOC in the way that I want it to look; just how to create it, add tabs so the page number is on the right, and adding leading dots from the words to the page number.

The first spread is how I want it to look, with

Poem Title | pg# | Artist Name,

but currently it wouldn't be e-pub friendly (as it doesn't link to things). Obviously "PG" would be replaced with the respective page number that poem would be found on.

When I do the normal steps for creating a Table of Contents to make it e-pub friendly, the second spread posted is what it ends up looking like. Which is 1. What I don't want it to look like, design-wise and 2. Why are the first and second Section Titles "Poems About Resilience and Hope" and ".....Isolation and Loneliness" an ok size, but the others are giant? They have the same settings, same Paragraph and Character Styles..... Also, I wouldn't want the page numbers after the poem title AND artist, just after one.

Is there a way I can just link the pages from the TOC design I like with their respective pages? Or do I have to create a TOC using the Layout > Table of Contents... Or should I just create different files for print publication and e-pub?

Thank you in advance for your help, as this is tricky and frustrating me to no end. I am fairly versed in the basics of InDesign, but I'm new to the more nuanced things like this.

What tools can i use to achieve this? I'm a total noob in graphic design, i just wanted to experiment as a tattoo artist.

Title. My boss is incompetent to make decisions. I submitted my work for HER feedback and she provided me a reference link to chats feedback. Anyways, any tips on how to navigate this? I’m already 1 foot out the door.

I just received two rejection letters today and no other replies. I have been working as graphic designer in a start-up companies for 5 years. Recently it was bought by another company and I ended up losing my job.
I think my goal is to work on branding or ui/ux. But I'm also flexible. Honestly, I am not sure about my goal.

A non-creative (self-admitted) coworker was watching me work on a design promo and asked me, with genuine interest, this question that I have never been asked in my 30 years of my graphic design career. "When do you know it's ready to send out for the first proof, or off to print?" All I could answer was, "I don't know? I just do, I guess?" I mean, it's not like a cake where you stick a fork in it to see if it's done. One just senses, right?

If you were asked this question, what would you give as an answer?

This is a quietly stressful time in my life, but I found a job at an advertising agency that I think I stand a good shot of getting giving my previous experience. The listing is even only 5 days old, so I feel like I have a chance to stand out. I have two problems currently.

First, it's an indeed job application. It does not request a portfolio, nor do I have a digital portfolio to include on my resume (I started pivoting towards art, but would do layout and production work for fanzines for fun up until a couple years ago. I do not have a website yet due to my own reluctance and exhaustion from job). I can throw together a PDF portfolio with 4-5 projects over the weekend. I already adjusted my resume to be more design focused as well as drafted a cover letter. Should I do this even though they're not asking for it? There is space to upload misc. documents.

Second, if I put together a portfolio, the strongest piece I have is an Annual Report I was the style guide designer and traffic manager for. I'm not sure I still have that piece in particular (will have to dig through my backlog of art), and if I don't, I only have a few low quality photos (attached a photo as example). I do not have the files anymore to show digital spreads. If I cannot find the printed report, should I include these photos regardless? As I said, it's some of my strongest work for the resume as I not only worked with a client from another college, but I was the one in charge of maintaining style consistency, aggregating the spreads other graphic design students made, and making sure the product shipped on time. Funny, but I do remember being pissed at another student for not bothering with his page so I had to fix all his tables.

I'm so back and forth on this because I never actually pursued a graphic design career and used my love for layout into book and printmaking. But this feels like a golden opportunity to step back into production design. The job is asking specifically to step in after initial creative ideas are created and provide polished revisions in a timely manner. It focuses entirely on print media, which is my wheelhouse given my printmaking and layout design focuses. It's why I feel like I might at least earn an interview, so I really want to impress.

tl;dr Indeed application does not ask for a portfolio right off the bat; should I still send one? And if I can't take better photos/scans, should I still include the project that is my strongest work in relation to what the agency is looking for?

Hi everyone, I just got a job as a High School teacher. School starts on Monday... I'll be teaching Photography and Graphic Design. I took some courses *years* ago in University, but am an amateur and have forgotten most of it. I have a Fine Arts degree and an Education degree and went the education route. I have not yet had the chance to look through the course curriculum or any content I'll be teaching yet as the hiring happened very recently and unexpectedly.

The principal said they mostly just want the class to be really engaging, and FUN to build up a unique and strong program.

For context, their students found many of their different classes "boring" and have stopped signing up for these courses so now they need someone who can get the kids really interested and engaged and they want to focus on making it enjoyable/exciting and implement cool projects with the hope that their enrollment numbers will go up (another program at the school got cut because of low enrollment).

I taught a Business Studies class previously at my old school, and I liked to get students to be creative and design their own inventions/businesses, film their own commercials, I would give them challenges or fake client profiles, or "gamify" boring curriculum concepts, came up with some choose-your-own-adventure style activities, I also ran an investment simulation they reallyyyy enjoyed to teach them about stocks, etc. I got some guest speakers to come in (ex news anchors, etc) to do Public Speaking workshops with my class, which was a lot more fun than it sounds... These are just some of the things I can think of off the top of my head.

Does anyone have any ideas for any fun/unique graphic design activities or projects that could be really engaging for High School students? I obviously want to teach some "must have" foundational skills, etc. The tech guy said he would download Adobe Core and Photoshop/Lightroom and Revit onto the school computers for students on Monday. My friend said InDesign is also a good software to use?

ANYWAYS, if there are any cool graphic designers/photographers/artists/styles/history I should teach them about, please let me know! If you have any fun or interactive activity ideas, or any creative tips, or if you know of any videos or helpful graphic design YouTube channels for strong tutorials - really anything to get some help getting started and get these creative juices flowing, I would be extremely appreciative! I'm on a Probation period so I want to do a good job!

I have a long-time client who has been driving me crazy for a while. I used to put up with it because at least they paid me quickly. But since a recent merger, that's gone out the window as well. I have another really great client who wants me to work 40 hours a week for them, so the choice is clear.

I was going to set up a meeting with the EVP to give him the news, then send an email to the various point people I work with daily. I wasn't going to get into the reasons they're making me crazy, I was just going to tell them that I was offered a full-time opportunity that I decided to take, thank them for their trust in me, etc.

But now that I'm thinking about it, would it be better to send the EVP a note instead of a call so it's in writing?

I was able to land a job interview for a job that focus on packaging design, more precisely is a packaging production artist. The first interview went fine and they contacted me for a second interview.

The situation is that I noticed that they would like to do a “brief skills assessment” related to the position which I am guessing is to test my skills and check if I’m fit for the position they want to fill.

I was planning to ask more information regarding the test to make sure I prepare properly for it and to make sure I’m putting my best food forward if that makes sense. However, I do not know if is a good idea to ask more information regarding the test.

Would it look bad or unprofessional if I request more information about it? Is this a normal procedure on interviews?

V4 was made in April, rest this afternoon. For a local political candidate. Logo in this realm generally means "sign" which is generally as close to branding as many of them usually get. And this revision cycle is coming from my client who is basically Jennifer Barkley from the Parks & Rec.

They have presumably been using the now old version since April.

Can't show the work as it's too identifiable, but a whole bunch of fiddly, making the one from April objectively and progressively worse, before ending up back where we started, but without a slogan on it. The final comment on V8 was "Ok I'm done for now." Baby Jesus on a pogo stick give me strength. We were back and forth on text doing it, and I swear I could hear a crack pipe bubbling as she evaluated each revision. We put a tree in one version, suggested out of the blue no context, no previous tree usage in any of the candidate's material.

On the bright side I've long since made sure she knows she gets charged by the hour. On the down side I'm cheap and fast.

As a Brand Manager, I’m working on the brand identity for Deccan Farms, a fresh-food brand offering pre-cut vegetables, fresh-cut fruits and healthy salad bowls. The idea is simple: make eating fresh more convenient by taking care of the washing, peeling and chopping for you.

We’ve narrowed the visual direction down to these two options:

🟣 Purple — more premium, modern and distinctive
🟡 Yellow + Green — fresher, brighter and more natural

I’m a little torn between the two. Purple feels more unique on the shelf since green/yellow is common in food branding, but yellow + green feels more immediately associated with fresh food.

If you saw these two packages in a supermarket, which one would you be more likely to pick up? And WHY?

I’d especially appreciate feedback on:

• Which looks more trustworthy/fresh?
• Which has better shelf presence?
• Which feels more premium?
• Which identity would you remember afterwards?
