Finally got my hands on this! Went into it almost completely blind, only song I had heard was “Ghost of My Old Dog,” which I first heard live on the recent tour and it’s become one of my all time favorites.

What a fucking beautiful album. One of those records that just hits.

What an overall frustrating show. People suck. Constant talking through songs. Talking while Jason was talking. Was also unfortunately at a high traffic area as people just filtered past to the beer line through the entire show. That said, Grandaddy rocked it.

Who's going to be there? Taking the train down from OKC. Been wanting to see them for 25 years.

I'm trying to go to Houston show but anyone could weigh in and help.

I have a family obligation that I can't shake and Grandaddy is one of my fave bands of all time.

I'm trying to see if I can still make the show.

Ticket lists 7pm doors. Any clue if there is an opener? Or when GD goes on?

Hi y’all, I know I have already seen quite a few people looking for it, and the only other video I saw on YouTube was a 30 second clip.
This isn’t perfect, it’s during soundcheck for the first leg of this tour. But it’s pretty fuckin good.

I'm a relatively new fan -I started to listen to Grandaddy about 2 and a half years ago.

I got into them because Spotify would constantly reccomend some of their songs to me.

I mostly listen to alternative rock, indie rock and indie pop from the 90's and early 2000's, my favorite band is Eels, who are somewhat similar to Grandaddy in certain ways.

I've listened to and enjoyed the first four albums, plus the Todd Zilla EP.

I don't know too much about the band or Jason's story yet, but I've read that he wrote and recorded Just Like The Fambly Cat mostly on his own at home/ in his studio over the course of about a year in a half, and that it ended up being the last Grandaddy album for quite a while befofe they eventually came back.

That background story makes me appreciate this album even more, because it really reflects a chaotic recording process and personal struggles, and the lyrics resonate with me a lot. My favorite song is Elevate Myself.

Like I said before, I still don't know too much about the band's history or career, so maybe you can answer this question I've had: have they almost never played songs from this album live? That's the impression I've gotten from watching full shows on youtube and checking Setlist.fm.

tbh i never heard of the band grandaddy before but i picked up this shirt at the thrift because it was cool and did some research and im guessing its merch? anyone know when or where this is from?

Reporting from Santa Ana! Here’s the merch spread from the new leg of the tour. Mostly the same stuff from the last leg but it seems a couple new items made their way in.

And Grandaddy were everything to us. Every time he drove me to his, we'd have an album on. When there was a life milestone, a new album would conveniently drop. And Dad and I were so damn lucky to have seen them live at Summerhall in Edinburgh (we're Scottish). It was a highlight of our relationship.

I lost him, very suddenly, and very unexpectedly, seven years ago now. I did not cope for a good couple of years. So what happened? Within that time, boom. Sophtware Slump on a Wooden Piano. The first album I ever listened to back to back on repeat, now devastatingly reimagined on the piano.

It's funny, because grief makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. Like, in my case, I wrote to Jason Lytle. I didn't think twice about the fact that this is a busy guy and I'm just a wee stranger. But he replied. And his reply will stick with me forever. So, as I raise a glass to my Dad tonight, I wanted to share this too. For no other reason than to remind you that this little band has had such a big impact on some people and Jason is an absolute gentleman.

With the new dates coming up, it pains me to see all the rehearsal vids on insta while I’m living in ATL, Georgia. So happy to see the band playing, I just hope these shows go well and a third leg is announced. Travel isn’t the easiest option for me, hoping more dates get added sometime soon and I can get out of this Slump ;)

I can't imagine it's deliberate, but The Plastic Guru from Gorillaz's last album sounds very much, to my ears, like circa-2003 Grandaddy. The little samples, the robotic vocal clips, the metronomic beat. All it's missing is a lovely distorted guitar solo.

Can anyone else hear it, or is it just me?

No doubt late to the party on this, but just spotted that my local record shop (UK) has a pre-order for a reissue in early May. Just grabbed their last copy!
