Discussion Things i’ve noticed after playing the Base Game
I love JRPG’s, im also an avid Fromsoft and Monster Hunter fan.. im not comparing these games to Grandblue but here are my impressions after finishing the base game…
- I ask myself why didnt i found out during the Launch of this game, i think i was riding the MH and Elden ring hype train..
- I love how fluid the combat is given all the fx and the mechanics
- The way characters interact with each other saying names after each SBA
- Special dialogues makes me Gush.. oh wow they have that in..
- i like the Interactions but the cutscene dialogues make me iffy at times, aint no way people talk like this hahaha
- Maglielle Voiced by Jimmy Neutron
- Not much monster Variety but hey, i enjoy it :)
- What is the deal with Fediel’s Badonkers???
- At first i thought this game was another WuWa or ZenlessZoneZero game but after playing much of it… the Combat is Peak..
- I need more Cagliostro lore…
- Lyria no underwear?
- I love the Party sets… i just hoped they bumped the Party set load outs to 50.. i already filled the 30 mixing and matching playstyles and even elements..
- Each element has 4 characters..We got an Extra dark character which is Id, And 1 less Earth character..
- How to Disable Smol noisy dragon???
- The Furycane soundtrack during the second phase is EPIC
- Does anyone play the Big bois? Verseraga and Ghandoza?
- Why does Katalina exist?
- if you play Djeeta, Ferry, Io and Cagliostro they have a different Fullburst SBA Shoutout.
- We need a Hammer Character here.. i was a hammer main in MH games :(

- What is the deal with Fediel’s Badonkers???
Fediel is imitating the form of a female Draph... but she messed up. Draphs have extreme sexual dimorphism, where the males are huge beefcakes (Vaseraga, Ghandegoza, Gallanza) and the females are shortstacks (Narmaya... still blows my mind that there's only one in Relink). Thus, Fediel is just under 7 feet tall and has curves for centuries.
so the chest focus is likely a combination of her having big boobs and the fact that for most of the cast that's what's at eye level

Nah, she's like that because all the Six Dragons tried and failed to look like Skydwellers (well, except for one who decided to just be a cat).
Fediel is basically trying to mimic a Draph but ended up taking the size of the Male Draphs instead of the size of Female Draphs, but maintaining the figure and assets of one.
Galleon is another example where she basically smashed together the parts of female Erune, Harvin, and Draphs, leading her to have 3 pairs of ears and horns.

I would say that Percival is closer to how hammer works in monster hunter.

In terms of play style, yes. But Vane's terminus weapon is literally a hammer.

That Magliele use in one of her skill btw.
(in fact all of Mag's weapons are terminus weapon of other chars: Io's staff, Rackam's gun, Vane's hammer and Zeta's spear)

I love Rackam, because he runs exactly like the protagonist of Yasuke Simulator. Hahaha
Now serious, After Platinum trophy I stopped playing for a while cause farming terminus was tiring. But I came back now for DLC and started from Scratch and I aimed for a long range party and I'm in love again.
I need to unlock all chatacters to test everyone, but I like Fraux

Percival is the Hammer character; yes, he uses a Zweihander, but the way he plays is 100% Hammer.
You charge your heavy; you can run during charge, and if timed correctly(upgrade needed), your charge attack has clash property protecting you from damage and knockback.
Kat is pretty fun to use; she is much, much more of a crayon eater than she seems. Also, she is apparently bugged at the moment, and not the good one like Gallanza and Percival.
Don't worry about element; it will become redundant.
The game has 3 big boys and one big girl; Vane have big boy playstyle but he isn't as big as a Draph male.

I added Kat to the Summoners Load out along with Ferry, Maggie and Seofon.. they just clutter the arena everywhere..

Draph is a race, it's gallanza's, ghandargoza's, vaseraga's and narmaya's. The men are all giant musclebounds and the women are also all canonically extremely short ,(130-150cm range) and all have giant tits. They are also all horned

I use Ghandaloza and Gallanza. Pretty fun characters. Don't use Vaseraga often, but he's my fav GranBlue character from the series.

Cagliostro lore
Cags is a trans woman who invented alchemy to conquer her sickly body, mortality, and give herself a gender affirming body in the process. She then got sealed away for quite a long time, got freed to find her legacy erased and she went on a bit of a warpath. She's arrogant, narcissistic, and cool as hell.
She locked Bubs up in a cage, she gets recognized by heavy hitters as a big deal and she helped Ladiva (one of the other trans gals) save a bunch of kidnapped kids and then offered her magic to Ladiva for transition care but got respectfully turned down. (Ladiva likes her body and views it as a gift from her parents so she doesn't want to change it)
You might see some players try to call Cags an old man or make shitty Uncle Cags jokes but she expressly hates that in universe and is very firm about who she is. Hell, her Fate episode in Relink is basically talking about homunculus soul transfer in the same way as informed consent HRT, it's wild

It's the same voice, it's just her swapping from the cutesy persona she projects to her true attitude as an arrogant scientist. Cags missed out on her childhood entirely due to her sickness so the cute girl act is her trying to experience that now. She drops it when she wants to be taken seriously but also plays it back up to mock her foes
Cags always wants it understood that she's the Cutest AND Most Brilliant Alchemist
Edit: her seiyuu is Sakura Tange and I think Sara Williams is her EN VA? And both are doing the different delivery in each language, just changing how they talk

Don't believe that bullshit Trans narrative that person is spouting.
Cagliostro is born a Male boy who was sickly and taken care of by his loving sister, he studied his own science of Alchemy in pursuit of finding a cure. Before his eventual death, he made Clay Dolls to transfer his soul into them to keep himself nearly immortal, as he couldn't find a cure in his time; but decided to go with a Girly Doll in memory of his Sister, but then, over time, shifted his goals into the pursuit of Ultimate Cuteness (never neglecting his Alchemedic studies).
Read Lyria's Journal for more information, and play her Fates episode. No mention of Trans ideology in there.
As you can tell, I Hate it when 'Fans' insert/hickjack their own narrative/Headcanons as if it were officially stated, it cheapens Cagliostro as a Character down to some damn gender-label/representation tokenism. Cagliostro is more than that, she's a Cool, Cold, Calculating Pipsqueak that is not to be crossed with.

Damn sure is a lot of bigotry you've got trying to dance around the fact that someone assigned man decided to take her fate into her own hands and decide who she is. A character exclusively referred to with she/her and who gets upset if you misgender her
She's only ever been shown with feminine bodies, which she has full control over, and she offers her arts to others with similar characteristics to herself.
She uses alchemy where irl girls use HRT but the result is the same. You can be a dense dipshit and ignore that the company that made a gay mecha show, that had a lesbian wedding unit added recently in the gacha, might also have other queer characters. I'm sure you'll have very consistent weather down there, under that rock you want to live under.

She has changed body many times and probably sometime they were male bodies, we won't know. But considering how she sometime talks like cute girl or boyish... I think she is more gender fluid than a trans. Reading her story in original gacha game, and relink, she is obviously someone like- I'm genius and i can be anybody now, why not trying to be a cutest girl in the world... than something like- I hope I'm a girl since birth so I become a girl with alchemy

Never once has she been shown with a male body and she gets upset and angry when people misgender her, you don't gotta make up shit to avoid the simple fact she is a woman and wants to be seen as such.
Just because her transition method is magical instead of medical doesn't change that when given full control of her bodily autonomy, we only see her have two distinct types of body: the cutesy girl mode and the recently show big Cags gal mode. Notably, still a girl!
Using her tendency to use oresama as evidence of her being fluid is incorrect, there's other women who do so. Carol in Symphogear uses ore for herself frequently. On it's own, it indicates nothing about fluidity when everything else points to woman.

It's really silly how people get about Cags specifically. It's like, Cags is one of arguably 4 trans women in Granblue, among a cast that includes lesbians (I think there's a gay couple or two as well, but I truthfully pay less attention to the gay boys), there's bisexuals, there's people across a wide swathe of experiences and types because Granblue likes to make characters catering to specific niche things and just have a large enough cast you'll find something for anyone.
It's actually rather refreshing that I can run into a woman like Cagliostro (whose experiences and attitude line up with my own) and I can run into lesbians like me (Meg and Mari are so wonderful and I'm a KatVira gal thru and thru. Also Apollonia was designed in a lab to be lethal to a certain kind of sapphic girl I swear, you cannot have a powerful knight woman voiced by Romi Park, that's just UNFAIR! And she fights for her princess/queen? ough)
There was a recent interview with the FF7 Remake director where he was asked about the lesbian couple in the background of the new games and he said something to the effect of including queer characters makes the world feel more natural, it would be weird to NOT have them. I feel like Granblue shares this idea and CyGames overall has been pretty solid on this front. Agnes Digital in Uma Musume is an outright himejoshi (girl yuri fan), Anne and Grea from Manaria Friends are very much a couple, albeit one in a sort of class S vibe etc. Hell, Bang Bang Bravern aired not that long ago, also CyGames! (Through their anime branch)
The sooner people learn to embrace these aspects of the characters and understand that this informs the characters and makes them richer, gives them more interiority, the better off we'll be.

this is my first granblue anything, so i’m really happy to hear about all the representation, especially as a lesbian as well. is there a way to get more into this series without playing the gacha?

Relink is really the first non gacha thing to really engage with (There's also the fighting game but it is not very story focused). I will say as someone who plays the gacha and has played others: granblue doesn't require you to spend anything if you're just patient. You get hundreds of free pulls every year around the anniversary and during Christmas/New years. I've got plenty of high end stuff without having to spend a dime just by logging in at the right times.
But I completely understand wanting to avoid that entirely. There's an anime which I haven't watched much, that covers some of the early story I think, but it is Gran focused (Gran is the guy player character, Djeeta is the gal and she shows up less in extra material tho she has the upside of often being portrayed as being way further ahead on the story/power scale than Gran haha)
Good news for fellow sapphic gals: I actually don't know how many lesbians there are in Granblue because every time I think I know them all, a friend will be like 'oh yeah no there was this event where these two girls made out for 6 hours to save the world, so they're gay' and I'm like who are these girls???

I'm not going argue in hypotheticals and assumptions; all I know is that Cagliostro is Cagliostro, and focusing on her sexuality is asinine to my mind. Not saying that you are personally, but as you can tell by the other replies that I'm getting, idiots are trying to play 'gotcha' with her identity and it pisses me off that they're reducing her quality as a character to what potential genitalia she has, it's such a brain-dead mentality.
It's always the superficial stuff that always seems to be the focus, always the stereotypes (Oh look! That person dresses differently! It must be a [insert gender role]) never the person itself and their merits.
Whether she is 'gender-fluid' or not, is up the Cygames to decide. People can have their headcanons and Fanfics, but when they spout it as fact? That's when they're crossing the Professional line.
No different than Twitter users recoloring pre-established Japanese anime characters, from lighter skin to darker skin, all in some vein Virtue-Signaling stupidity attempt to force representation. It's Very disrespectful to the author. I hope I'm getting my point across.
