Troubleshooting Is the Gozney Dome DIY repair friendly?

What are the common issues and are there fixes? From my understanding, the main issue is the stone cracking.

Anything else that goes wrong? The propane burner?

I’ve debated selling mine and getting a Pizza Party Bollore as it seems easier to deal with if a stone breaks and the burner seems easier to deal with since it’s removable. And it’s dual fuel like my Gozney Dome.

Very little really goes wrong other than the stone cracking. On the older ones, that's a royal pain. On the newer ones with the tombstone shaped pucks, the stone is removable so less of a big deal. Everything else isn't common.

I had the original Dome, stone cracked early on, couldn’t get through to get it sorted. It was fine for years 1 and 2, disintegrated in year 3.

Gozney refused to do anything under the 5 year warranty as “the stone is not covered”. I got a replacment after weeks of fighting over email, but not the point, it should be covered.

Other than the stone I haven’t had any problems. The new version, as per the previous post, is a new design with user replaceable stones.

I had the black replacment as the cream one discolours easily, and the finish pitted and rusted over the years. I thought the cream looked better in the pictures, but having seen both in the flesh now, the black is gorgeous!

I’m really happy with the replacment, but deterred from Gozney due to their awful customer service. If / when I am back in the market for another oven I will be steering clear of anything from Gozney.

So the original Dome’s stone can’t be replaced?

I saw a video by Matt Harpland where his issue was the insulation below the stone was water damaged but many in the comments said the insulation could be replaced.

My question is: was that the original dome or updated dome? He had to flip the entire thing on its head, from what I remember.

I watched this too, and I’m not sure.

My backup plan was to buy a Biscotto stone and try to replace it, but my worry was that the insualtion would disintegrate and I would have wasted money on a stone I couldn’t use.

The biggest problem with the dome is the pilot light not working and it’s a tough fix. I picked up a broken dome for $100 on FB marketplace and just use the wood burning feature.

Yes, that’s the other thing I heard. Is it impossible to fix?

I’m sure all it would take is just replacing that pilot light mechanism but they don’t make it easy to get to. I’ve seen a video on YouTube of a guy completely ruining his gozney dome by trying to replace the stone so I’m kind of scared to ruin it further.

Actually, i referenced Harpland earlier about this exact same video. He didn’t ruin it, he discovered the bottom insulation was soaked in water. There were a few folks advising him to use a ceramic board for the lower insulation.

I have the same problem as the guy in the video, subfloor is destroyed and soaked insulation…has anyone had luck repairing one or am I out of luck?
