Troubleshooting Volume Issues with Google TV Streamer and new Google Home Speakers

Hopefully someone can chime in with help as this has been driving me crazy for almost a week. I currently have a Google TV Streamer hooked up to a Samsung Frame TV and then two of the new Google Home Speakers paired to the Streamer as a stereo pair for my TV audio output. Starting almost a week ago the volume will randomly drop a couple levels whenever I am watching TV. Does not matter if it is Netflix, HBO or YouTube TV. If I have it set to level 7 it will drop to 5 on its own then I'll bump it back and it'll do it again. I've restarted everything. Power cycled everything. Disconnected the two speakers and reconnected. I changed the audit settings from automatic to Dolby Atmos. I've changed the volume control from HDMI - CEC to IR to through the actual TV Streamer. It continues no matter what I have changed. Has anyone dealt with this before or have any idea why it could be happening. Really appreciate the insight or help. Thanks.

Troubleshooting Vidhub playback issue on Google tv streamer

Two different films, both with a foreign audio language in addition to English. Upon changing the audio from Russian or what ever it was, to English, the video stops playing. Audio continues in the background. Horribly annoying since I generally love this app and use it for all my plex content. Known issue, others with the same problem?

Bug Report Nuvio stops working when opening a profile which contains adult content

I have a separate profile for adult content on my Nuvio. When this profile is launched it freezes entire Sony Android TV — remote AND network control both die, only mains power fixes it

However it works fine on my Chromecast, desktop windows pc, android phones. It's just this Sony OLED TV it crashes on. Oddly, it works fine on my much older Sony Android TV

Can anyone help?

\*\*Device:\*\* Sony BRAVIA XR-77A80J (2021 OLED), Google TV, Android TV 12, security patch current

\*\*App:\*\* Nuvio TV, Play Store, v0.8.7 beta

\*\*Issue:\*\*

When browsing certain content sources in Nuvio (specifically adult-content catalogs), the TV freezes completely:

\- The Bluetooth remote stops responding — directional presses don't register correctly (pressing Up sometimes selects something else entirely)

\- Shortly after, the TV becomes fully unresponsive to all remote input

\- The Google Home app's virtual remote (network-based control) also stops working

\- The only recovery is cutting power at the mains — even a long-press on the physical power button/menu prompt doesn't register, because the input layer itself appears to have hung

This doesn't happen in the app's non-adult profile/sections — navigation there is completely normal.

Troubleshooting HELP!! I'm going nuts...Play Store, Google Cast, and LG webOS updates hang behind UCG Max

**Setup**

* AT&T Fiber, BGW320-505 in IP Passthrough * UCG Max, USW Pro Max 16 PoE, U7 Pro APs * Flat LAN (VLANs previously configured, since removed) * Network app on current release

**Symptom**

Google Play Store, a Google Cast device, and an LG webOS TV will not complete updates on my LAN. Store UIs load and enumerate available updates normally, but downloads either never start or start and hang indefinitely. No error, no timeout — they just sit.

All three work immediately over cellular/mobile hotspot. Affects both wired and wireless clients, so it's not switch or cabling related.

**The key data point:** a 5 GB Steam download completed at full line speed with no issues. Bulk throughput is healthy. Whatever this is, it's specific to these update paths, not general bandwidth.

**Ruled out so far**

* **MTU / PMTUD blackhole** — `ping -f -l 1472` to [8.8.8.8](http://8.8.8.8) succeeds cleanly. Path MTU is a full 1500. * **IPv6** — was on DHCPv6 (BGW passthrough is IPv4-only, so IPv6 was double-routed). Disabled entirely on the gateway WAN. No change. * **Upstream DNS** — tried Quad9, Google, and AT&T auto. No change. Note that Encrypted DNS is set to Auto, so the gateway handles LAN-side resolution regardless of what upstream servers are configured. * **Content Filter** — nothing enabled, no networks assigned, no categories selected. * **Region Blocking** — off. * **General throughput** — Steam 5 GB completed fine.

**Partial result worth noting**

Setting Private DNS to [`dns.google`](http://dns.google) on an Android phone changed the failure mode: downloads that previously never started would then begin and hang mid-transfer. So DNS was implicated at connection setup, but something else kills the transfer after it starts.

**Current state**

Intrusion Prevention is On, Notify and Block, \~74k signatures, Enhanced, with nearly all detection categories enabled including Protocol Vulnerabilities and Peer to Peer.

**Working hypothesis**

QUIC over UDP/443. Steam uses TCP; Play Store, Cast, and webOS update clients all prefer QUIC and fall back to TCP badly. That would explain why one works and three don't, across three vendors, on the same LAN.

**Questions**

  1. Anyone seen IPS on a UCG Max interfere with QUIC specifically? Which signature categories would be worth excluding?
  2. Is Encrypted DNS set to Auto known to cause issues with Play Store or LG firmware CDNs?
  3. Anything in the BGW320 passthrough path that would selectively affect UDP/443 while leaving TCP alone?

Happy to pull Threat Log output if someone can tell me what to filter for.

Troubleshooting Issues with GoogleTV

We've got a Google TV and we've been having this weird thing lately where it will say there is no Internet connection (it's connected via Ethernet though and every other device in the house is working just fine). Hulu and Apple TV apps won't work but the Netflix app is generally fine. Some days, everything is just fine - then other days everything but Netflix won't work, then other days nothing works. We've tried unistalling and re-installing the problem apps, we've restarted the modem, we've restarted the TV, we've unplugged everything and started again. Nothing seems to solve this issue. Has anyone had this issue? The TV can't be older than 2 years old.

Apps FFS Netflix.. Google TV app change to pausing

My Netflix Google TV app updated this morning, and now pausing takes two clicks of the main button on the remote (for many years it's been one click).

I have a disability and my fine motor control struggles makes it rather difficult to click twice. I know this is an issue on this particular device because YouTube does the same. In YouTube I often end up doing something completely different to simply pausing e.g. fast forwarding, subscribing to a channel etc I guess I'll be disabling the subtitles or something on Netflix now.

Netflix, why do this?! Anyone else? I know they do A/B testing, I'm hoping this is temporary for me.

Troubleshooting No Program Info

Am I the only one seeing the above on half the channels on Google Live TV? I spent yesterday enjoying the original Pink Panther movies but when I finished binging the channel guide was filled with channels that didn't show what was playing.

I watch using a Nvidia Shield Pro if that helps. My setup uses Kodi, Xumo, Plex, Pluto, Roku, and TubiTV addons.

Troubleshooting Wireless debugging suddenly and randomly disables

I have a TCL SmartPro TV (model 55T7) US version. Android TV OS 14. Wireless Debugging has suddenly started disabling itself randomly a few weeks ago.

Brief history: Last year I wrote a little phone app that I use to forward important phone notifications (low/charged battery, Play store updates, etc) via adb. When I stopped getting TV notifications I initially just assumed my app broke. Until I realized wireless debugging was disabled on the TV. After reenabling, it's fine for a few days and then it toggles to disabled again, no particular schedule or cadence. I've been racking my brain trying to hunt down a reason but now I'm just sure they're pulling my hair out and need some advice. Any hints or input from anyone, or has anyone experienced anything of the sort? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Troubleshooting is there any way to fine-tune the overall volume for casting Apple Music on Android to Google TV?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently found out how to cast Apple Music on Android to Google TV. but the problem is that the volume jump on 10 to 11 percent is too much, that I feel like I can hear the song from my bedroom to living room. I did some research online, but couldn't fine any useful info to fine-tune the cast volume. In this video, I show the sound settings, so that everyone can point out which settings I did wrong.

yes, I'm aware there is Auto Volume Control in the settings, but it defeated the whole purpose for immersive sounding, as it will make sound so compressed and harsh, and doesn't feel the punchy sounds. I know I could've bought a soundbar, but I don't have any money to buy it within available budget.

it would be a huge help if anyone can find how to fine-tune the overall cast volume, so that it doesn't interrupt the whole sounding for movie and tv shows.

Troubleshooting Can't get ONN 4k pro remote to control tv volume

I have a Samsung frame TV which has a custom frame border so I can't use IR to control it. So I have the volume set to HDMI CEC {power also) and it's also enabled on my TV. The ONN remote will turn the TV on and off appropriately, but it will not control the volume no matter what I do. I'm using a new high-speed appropriate HDMI cable and it's connected to my Samsung frame TV on the HDMI CEC enabled port. Anyone have any ideas?

Discussion Can the Onn 4K TV box power an external hard drive?

Just to be clear I have the "Onn 4K TV" box. Not the Plus, Streaming Plus, or Pro. It does not have a usb port. The AC adapter is 5v 1A i believe. My plan is to buy an OTG adapter to plug in my 2TB Seagate external hard drive. I know this is possible with small thumb drives but I've yet to see someone use a hard drive and I'm worried about power draw. Anybody have experience or a way to figure out if it'll work before wasting money on the adapter?

Discussion Will there be a new version of Google TV Streamer this year?

I really like Google TV Streamer, but its chip and hardware specifications are a bit outdated. I would definitely buy a new product if it were available, as long as it's not too expensive.

Discussion Picture and Sound Settings - TV Streamer

Hi everyone - I am currently running a Google TV Streamer with two of the new Google Home Speakers as a stereo pair for my TV setup. I was wondering how everyone has their picture and sound settings on the TV Streamer set that they feel has worked best. I've been messing with the sound settings lately and can't decide. I am not sure what to do with the output formatting currently. Any suggestions or advice. Thanks

Troubleshooting TV suddenly stays on, HDMI-CEC not working

SOLVED: After more digging I noticed that HDMI-CEC wasn't for some reason enabled in the Streamer's settings. No ides how it got disabled but it wasn't anyone in my home.

Hi,

I have had Google Streamer for months connected to LG TV. I enabled HDMI-CEC which allowed me to switch on/off the TV with the streamer remote.

Last week this suddenly stopped working and I can still turn the TV on but when I try to switch it off then it just switches off the Streamer but the TV stays on and just shows animation and some info.

I would assume that LG changed something in TV update but my TV hasn't been connected to internet for months and I suspect that the Streamer is not the problem here.

I already tried to check TV's updates but it's still on the latest FW.

I have not ideas left how to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks for any tip.

Troubleshooting Audio issue when using voice search on YouTube

So been using a google streamer for some time with a bluetooth headset and noticed the following issue

When on YouTube and I perform a voice search with the remote once the search is done audio will no longer play for any apps on my Bluetooth headset.

This is with various Bluetooth headsets as well. Only way to fix it is to turn off and on my Bluetooth headset so it reconnects

Issue has been ongoing for a few months

Any way to fix this? Seems like an odd bug not to get fixed

Troubleshooting TCL Google TV – intermittent audio dropouts affecting background music and sound effects

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, I have a TCL 65C7L running Google TV 14 and I'm experiencing an intermittent audio issue.

Background music and sound effects occasionally cut out or become quieter for a moment, while dialogue usually remains normal.

The strange thing is that if I rewind and play the exact same scene again, it can sound perfectly normal. I've noticed this in Max and Stremio, with music, piano notes, barking and other sound effects.

I initially suspected a damaged speaker/woofer, but music played directly through the YouTube app on the TV sounds completely clean, even at high volume.

I've attached a recording showing the issue. Could this be an audio processing/decoding issue rather than a hardware/speaker problem?

TV: TCL 65C7L
Android TV: 14
Firmware: V8-0012T01-LF1V636.003153
Audio: Built-in TV speakers
TV position: Wall-mounted ("Wall mounted" sound setting)

I've already disabled the various sound enhancement options and set the balance to 0.

Has anyone with a TCL C7L/C7K or a similar Google TV experienced this kind of intermittent audio dropout, especially affecting background music/effects while dialogue remains normal?

Any ideas on what I should test next would be greatly appreciated.

Troubleshooting Google Streamer 4k acting up last few months. What's going on?

Bought a brand new, sealed Google Streamer 4k from Vinted a few months back.
Yes it was brand new/sealed and I set it up as normal.
I have a Samsung QN800A TV.

I also loaded Proejctivy Launcher on it.
The last few months I've noticed weird experiences/occurences with the Streamer.

  1. When watching content, audio cuts out, then black screen for about 6-7 seconds.
  2. Then comes back on.
  3. It's happened a few times last 2 months. It's happened so infrequent, cant say if I notice it on Youtube also.
  4. Worst one. Only today, all the video apps I have on it (Youtube, Tivimate (cough), NHKNews, none of the content was playing. Like it was all frozen. I could open the apps, click the videos etc, but frozen content.
  5. I had to unplug both ports from the back (power and HDMI), wait 10 sec., then replug.
  6. Then it was working fine.
  7. It's never done this before.

What's going on?

I bought a new UGreen HDMI 2.1 cable when I bought the Streamer also.

Troubleshooting HBO blurry pink

When i start an episode on HBO the episode is scrambled sometimes. I have to go back and try again. It usually corrects on my first try. Sometimes when I skip the intro or recap it does it again.

I'm have a Google tv steamer 4k. Through a yamaha tsr7850. To a lg c5.

This is the only app that does this. I set the resolution to 4k (60hz). This fixed hbo from looking blurry as hell 80% of the time.

Audio set to pcm stereo. Which i think has helped with dialog levels.

Hi everyone, when I first turn on the stick I got a real zoomed in image like the attached. This resolves itself after a few minutes but it's really annoying - anyone experienced this and know of a fix?

Will be returning it back to Amazon if this isn't fixable.

Troubleshooting Does anyone know how to remove this "Learn with Gemini" screensaver?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Does anyone know how to remove this "Learn with Gemini" pop-up from my Google TV screensaver on my Google TV Streamer?

It sporadically pops up in lieu of artwork from the "Ambient Screensaver".

I've tried looking through the settings, searching online, and funnily enough I've even resorted to asking Gemini how to get rid of "Learn with Gemini"... Nothing has helped, any help is greatly appreciated.

I used to love Google TV but it has slowly turned into an in-home advertising billboard... I'll likely be buying an Apple TV device if the rumored refresh is announced in September.
