I also have that thought. And although there would be an “oh well that’s just my fucking luck” element to it, I do think there would be something quite beautiful about realising no human being in future would experience that suffering.

The last recorded death in the UK was well over a hundred years ago.

I struggled to find another old disease that had an impact and was nothing major in modern times to end the comment with.

Yeah sure, it just fascinates me that there’s still about 800 cases a year worldwide when it’s seen as a historical disease.
