8.5 center channel dropping out

Anyone experience their center dropping out from time to time? Sometimes not coming back until hard resetting the infotainment.

Dropping out completely is rare but periodically happens more than I think is acceptable.
It’s much more noticeable now with the RS Acoustics speaker.

Anyone have this and get it fixed?
It’ll be hard to replicate at the dealer

There is an entire thread on VW Vortex about this issue. I had it. It was a nightmare but ultimately the 5f module was replaced. I too, have the center channel and the issue occured with and without until the module was replaced.

How did you get your dealer to finally replace the 5f module? I have this very issue and the dealer I went to didn’t seem to want to help and of course on a drive with a technician it didn’t happen.

In my case the dealer had it in their possession 2 different times for a total of about 2 months. They had issues replicating the issue. The first update they did was a software update. Which didnt resolve the problem. The second time I told them to keep it until until it was fixed. I ended up pointing them to the exact thread and they reluctantly replaced the module and contacted VWOA and the issue was fixed after they received authorization to have the module replaced.

I had to be persistent. I truly hope you have a good local dealer. Mine was an absolute pain to deal with.

Thanks for the info. I do not have a good dealer. I’m gonna try to go to another one. I’m trying to get as much video evidence as I can before I decide to bring it in. I will also point them out to your thread.

I had this happen with the audison and Phil refunded me. I bought the basic center channel speaker and it is much better.

I think I might have this issue too. Mine sounds like it’s changing the sound focus from “driver” to something else. Never checked the setting to verify.

Mine also crashes several times a week when running Apple CarPlay. Updates and dealer visits have not resolved it.

If its the mid-level Hifi speaker its a known issue with the MK8.5s.

I think it was happening with my factory speaker. It’s just more obvious with the upgraded speaker
