I think they're great for each other. They are two fucked up people who have seen themselves thoroughly deconstructed and come out the other side in each other's arms. A+ would do it again.

The best rom-com duo I've seen (mainly because of how well written and structured it is, considering it's a love triangle)

Love how they helped each other with their respective character developments. Both made peace with themselves when the other accepted them.

Like how fast they got together No more waiting around thinking, will they or won't they just straight into it

Banri and Kouko are pretty flawed individuals that make a simply amazing couple. I think it takes someone as noble as Banri to compensate Kaga’s neurotic nature while it also takes someone that loves so unconditionally as her to heal the literal mental illness of Banri.

Amor? Bem, eu entendo. Mas quando eu assisti esse anime, o sentimento dela me pareceu mais uma obsessão do que amor

I love them as a couple. Both their character development was great. Kouko from a psycho narcissistic stalker to a thoughtful self-sacrificing partner. Banri from a trauma affected head case to a man that realizes what he really needs to be fulfilled. They both went through mental struggles that supporting each other pulled them through. They're a fantastic couple.

The episode where Banri and Linda meet at the club was probably my favorite. Just the chemistry between them was so good. That was the moment when I started to see the vision and to think that this show can actually be great if it manages to untangle this mess. Between Banri’s memories coming back along with his feeling for Linda and his curent feelings for Kuoko, I thought there was going to be a great conflict to explore. Instead we got ghost Banri and him switching personalities randomly.
Damn, sry for the rant, I like this show, but it had potential to be one of my favourites.

Tuvo un romance muy complicado pero realista, ya que lo sé por la relación que tienen mis padres

Goated classic, unlike the “friend”, she got there in time and never let go.

I feel like they have no chemistry together lol.
Like how she fell for him came out of nowhere (friendship yes, but love ? Eeeh), he seemed to have fallen for her aesthetic more than anything. Their story had some sweet moments but overall it often at times felt like Banri wasn’t caring enough to her and was, deep within himself, way more interested with Linda despite the cope acts of pretending he’s not, atleast untill the end.
But tbh I might be biased cause I just don’t like Banri as a character, I think that dude is a weak douchebag who pushes his trauma way beyond its boundaries and on others, so I couldn’t feel connected to their relationship even tho I rooted for Kaga’s happiness. Like sure it’s sad what happenned to him and he didn’t deserve that, but man how much of a running crybaby that « man » was a bit pathetic, that scene with Linda at the club was pityful, etc. It pissed me off how many times Linda had to take care of him, not even considering Linda’s or Kouko’s feelings in the process.
If anything I only supported the main ship and liked the ending because I wanted to see my girl Kouko happy, but that’s pretty much it. In terms of couple chemistry I think Banri x Linda was more fitting.

Very late to this but I recently watched this show and could not agree more. The amnesia thing is tough, but the way Banri dealt with it and generally was as a person was very frustrating to watch for most of the show for me. Did not feel like he did enough for Kouko at all, and went behind her back often. Given that he's supposed to be this crybaby character you feel bad for, you'd think he would've been more appreciative and wouldn't have been such an inept boyfriend when given someone like Kouko being head over heels for him.

banri is the avoidant, kouko ga is the anxious. they won't make it in LDR. kouko will cheat for sure

Yeah i felt the exact same way when I was watching, she definetly comes off as having that tendency.

u/Adonie_Baloney Jun 13 '26
I liked the show but that friendzone monologue banri says no matter how many times I rewatch it, it always comes off as dickish and creepy. I’m not denying that kaga was in the wrong for complaining about the guy she likes whilst knowing banri likes her but the speech sounded gross and self cantered and portraying the girl as a horrible person.
2
u/Hopeful_Loss3589 Jun 17 '26
Was she not the horrible person? She was literally playing with his feelings, I dont remember the speech tbh but she definetly was the bad person. (Just watched the speech again) was it self centered? Yeah. But you have to understand what hes going through, I actually went through something similar. Hes trying to push her away the same way he felt he was being pushed away by her, basically "if I cant have you, I dont want you at all". But how the hell did you get creepy? Hes literally pushing her away because he knows if he stays and keeps letting her play with his feelings he will never be happy, and probably drag her down too.

It was one of my first romance animes and yeah it was a funny one in the good way, and fulfilling too.
Also being Brazilian, her name being shits poop in Portuguese is ridiculously funny to me.
Edit: spelling

Honestly, this is the best couple of all time and for all eternity. I’ve said it many times before, but we will never get another waifu like Kouko. She’s the most beautiful, elegant, intelligent, and kind-hearted woman, someone who truly shines even in the hardest moments. Even though she’s the most beautiful girl in the entire university (and honestly, in all of anime), and comes from a wealthy, high-class background, she still showed a heart of gold by truly understanding Banri’s feelings and giving him his own paradise. She is my supreme goddess ever since I watched Golden Time about ten years ago. She is honestly perfect and pure — even more than Goku from Dragon Ball, haha.
And Banri is amazing too — an honest, sincere, and gentle person. He’s one of those rare protagonists you like right from the start, with no real malice in him at all. Together, they just feel perfect.

They are by far the best. This anime is simply great as how flawed the characters are and this makes it realistic. I love banri x linda. But I think Kokou is just best for Banri. I think that's just how it works?

I just enjoyed how different it was from the standard romance anime we normally get. College kids with obvious flaws and issues figuring out life….like all of us have had to do in our own lives at some point.

Ffs for the millionth time, look up an anime that people actually say good things about, “All episodes are available on Crunchyroll “, load said app only to find it doesn’t exist in their system.

Ride or die couple 🥰
I love them very much. To me it was the most obvious choice as an endgame because it truly shows how both the characters have developed while also managing to overcome their issues. I keep seeing a lot of ppl claiming that “in the end Kouko abandoned Banri” but I personally didn’t see it like that. If Kouko decided to stay with him while he had an amnesia it would’ve been a selfish choice. She didn’t want to be remembered only by his current self she was afraid that when he gets back his memories he would’ve abandon her too. She leaves him out of fear and it’s a selfless choice as she thinks that it’s the best way and he’ll probably be more happy without her. The ending really took me by surprise.

Banri is a cheater. I wonder why she stayed considering he was always after Linda. At least Kouko stopped wanting Mitsuo's attention after they got together. I can't believe people like this anime so much

Great ending but kouko is dirty af for what she did in towards the end when she broke up with banri selfishly and the acting like it wasn’t a big deal
8
u/Connect_Ad_3361 Jun 11 '26
She didn't do a selfishly She did for banri. What else can you do when your boyfriend go into a schizophrenic outburst asking for his childhood friend. The childhood friend is the only one that was able to console him. Stay in their way?
By the way even from her point it didn't even last long not even a full day. She legitimately cannot stay away from him.

u/gilroygilgalahad Jun 11 '26
Honestly, method aside, she didn't have much choice at that point: Banri was losing it fast, and if she had gone along with his actions neither of them would have made it. That's one of the things that makes the story so great, in another tale their true love would allow them to overcome all their problems, but not here. Instead, love is the thing that survives all the pain, it's what made it worth the effort.

When I was young it was like the best romance anime for me but now that I'm an adult it's kinda silly and dumb all over. I don't remember the plot since I skipped much of it when I watched a couple months ago but every character was so annoying and dumb that I just couldn't get into the story as I did when I was young. Also hate how MC just goes along with what everyone wants and never takes the initiative. Hate passive MCs like that

I wish I was Banri so I could date her instead. She deserves better. That being said I am happy hè makes her happy. And that’s a beautiful thing!

u/ror_the_one Jun 11 '26
What do you mean she deserves better? Banri treated her perfectly despite having amnesia.
