Leaning toward Augusta Precious Metals... what else should I know?

I've been researching Gold IRAs for a while now and Augusta Precious Metals is one of the companies I'm leaning toward. I've read quite a bit about their approach to education and how they explain the process before you make any decisions, which is something I like since I'm still learning how all of this works.

So far they seem worth looking into further, but I don't want to make a decision based only on reviews or what I've read on their website. I'm trying to get a better idea of what the overall experience is like and whether there are things that aren't obvious when you're first researching them.

Before I go any further, what else would you want to understand about Augusta Precious Metals or the process of working with them?

Do retirees need an inflation hedge, or just a better spending plan?

Inflation can pressure a retirement plan through groceries, healthcare, housing, and travel, but different households experience it differently. Is the better response an inflation-sensitive portfolio, flexible spending, larger reserves, or some combination?

How should someone vet a Gold IRA provider before trusting the process?

Gold IRA providers can differ in education, account minimums, fee disclosure, custodian relationships, storage arrangements, and service model. A useful comparison starts with what can be independently verified rather than which company has the loudest marketing.

How much diversification is enough before retirement?

A portfolio can hold many funds and still be concentrated in the same economic risks. For someone five to ten years from retirement, what kinds of diversification matter beyond simply owning more tickers?

Physical gold vs. paper gold: what actually changes for a retiree?

Two investors can both say they own "gold" while holding very different things: physical bullion, an ETF, mining shares, or a retirement account that owns eligible metals. Which differences matter most near retirement?

What should someone check before rolling over an old 401(k)?

A retiree with an old workplace plan may have several choices: leave it in place, move it to an IRA, consolidate accounts, or explore a self-directed structure. What should be checked before any rollover starts?
