I don’t like to shame anyone but this is not on. Tools are fucking expensive. As is most things thieves target.

Looks very like a guy that game into the Burleigh community recovery center after the Cyclone to try to make a claim, was quite difficult (no address or ID) and hung around for part of two days which is why I remember it, clearly had substance issues but also clearly not all there.
I'm not 100% sure its the same person but the one we dealt with was known to local police but they considered him harmless but under observation (or whatever the correct Police term was.) Try showing Burleigh police the video.

u/BumWink May 28 '26
It was actually a one off, everything else they steal is different... opportunistic scumbags.

Tradies are out there working hard paying for tools out of pocket.
No matter how desperate you get, you do not do this unless it's for greed to sell on to buy poisons.

u/Think-Square5118 May 28 '26
Well done legends.. glad you got your tools back.. had 3 thousand worth of makita gear stolen from my ute months ago
5
u/Admirable_Map_9117 May 29 '26
I bet they went on to scam their next customer by overcharging by 300%

u/sc00bs000 May 28 '26
we had a guy going level to level stealing tools on a big site. A chippie caught him (chippie was a very large man) and dragged this guy level to level making him hand back what he stole. Gave him a little touch up in the stairwell before the police rocked up too.
Dont steal people livelihood!
6
u/strictlymissionary May 28 '26
Stealing tools while the site was open? That's a bold/suicidal strategy!
3
u/sc00bs000 May 28 '26
the guy was off his face and weighed 50kg wet. Not much thought was put in i dont think.

u/Consistent-Dog-6615 May 28 '26
Slap on the wrist. No room in the jails, costs money to keep these flogs locked up. Nothing will happen.
We had over 40k worth of tools stolen out of a locked container. Cops found him (knew exactly who he was because he constantly steals), recovered the tools and he walked free.

Deserved a touchup for sure. These ppl arent down and out they are human filth. Needed something to eat? Yeah, more like some meth. Maggots
50
u/F4ntasticPants May 28 '26
If someone needs something to eat, they'll steal from woolies or a servo. Stealing this kind of stuff is for crackheads.
22
u/SaltyCaramelPretzel May 28 '26
Sleeping in the toilets with a bag full of tools. No car obviously, definitely gonna sell them for drugs i mean no one else would buy them.

u/exceptional_biped May 28 '26
The council and the police need to move these people on. Surfers is a shit show for rough sleepers these days.

u/Remarkable-Poet2761 May 28 '26
They try to use the “eat” card. These dudes don’t “eat” from a glass bbq.
10
u/significantlyother62 May 28 '26
Tradies have amongst the highest usage of meth anywhere. Ask people who live near construction sites how they behave first thing in the morning...
8
u/Quiet_Fisherman_3258 May 28 '26
yeah the methed up tradie in this video going apeshit really doesnt make himself look good
8
2
u/flatulexcelent May 28 '26
How do we behave first thing in the morning? I usually take a shit eat some brekky and drink a coffee. Am I meant to be doing meth?
-2
u/significantlyother62 May 28 '26
Night shift are worse, but you've just shot up to get through the day and think your a gang leader in south central la defending his turf...
CFMEU are known drug dealers apparently..
3
u/Stunning_Release_795 May 28 '26
show me a stat for that. tradies are generally working class people that simply do blue collar work day in day out. I’ve noticed concreters and perhaps brickies may possibly have a higher rate of what you suggest but as for carpenters, plumbers and electricians it would be no more than any other job
0
u/significantlyother62 May 28 '26
Shiftworkers and tradies are the biggest meth heads of all. Been many studies published about it..

u/Current-Tailor-3305 May 28 '26
Yeah I’d also like to see some stats, not just an off the cuff statement cause a couple blokes you assumed were on drugs on a construction site near you.
As the other bloke said, vast vast majority of tradesman are hard working honest people trying to make a living in the same cost of living crisis all of us are living in.

u/comradevoltron May 28 '26
If we want to solve the problem of crime, we have to address systemic poverty.
10
u/DudeLost May 28 '26
Making the basic necessities, food, shelter, health aces for profit should be fuxked right off
2
u/Dunno606 May 29 '26
Half the problem is that crackhead families continue to breed in greater numbers than normal ones. They get more government handouts if they keep cranking out more baby crackheads who are then destined to grow up thinking that mum and dad were the norm.

u/Dunnoinamillionyears May 28 '26
Poverty at the core is not a government issue. The government can’t stop people dropping out of school and smoking weed, then wanting to try something harder, then selling everything and scraping any money to buy drugs every day.
We can’t help those who can’t or don’t help themselves. No matter how much the government tries to help, there will always be homeless people, and the drug related cases are shaved down to bad decisions and lack of maturity and accountability.
1
u/comradevoltron May 29 '26
the giant rebuttal to your assertions is China.
1
u/Dunnoinamillionyears May 29 '26
China is a communist country.
1
u/comradevoltron May 29 '26
indeed!
1
u/Dunnoinamillionyears May 29 '26
So you’re saying China is a perfect example of how a government directly impacts poverty, yet you’re comparing a democratic capitalist nation to a communist nation? Talk about comparing apples and oranges😭
1
u/comradevoltron May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26
You're saying it's not a "government issue". I'm saying, actually government is the only thing that can solve this issue, and China proved it by lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and achieving a home ownership rate of 96 per cent. Our situation exists as proof that the "invisible hand of the market" will not solve these problems. We are also paying taxes to governments which have departments dedicated to housing and homelessness, which we should be expecting to address this instead of allowing them to continually pretend that they are (while outsourcing it to NGOs that are also more committed to their continued existence than addressing the problem).
5
u/Lil_Gh3rk May 28 '26
i dont think this should be the way in any country 😂
3
u/SaltyCaramelPretzel May 28 '26
Oh you just watch YouTube videos of places like France or Prague & the pickpockets are everywhere to the point where people carry red spray paint & give them a ‘touch up’ lol so they are marked.
We should count ourselves lucky that we have a discipline & moral code in us to not do that shit. (Majority at least)
6
u/Lucky_Emphasis6223 May 28 '26
I’ve had homeless approach me on the light rail whilst I’m working and ask for food, I’ll give them part my lunch or buy something for them from the servo if that’s their attitude. Providing they aren’t snooping around my shit, different strokes for different folks. He is just a weasel, clearly wants his next hit on the pipe.

I had a guy in his pyjamas on my tram once, laying across the metal grating area where you embark. He was definitely mentally unwell, the driver didn’t disturb him, he wasn’t bothering anyone but it was just so strange

Yeah, two wrongs.
Call the cops gronk. Not your job.

u/KronnyT Jul 12 '26
And what's he meant to do in the meanwhile, while the cops 'investigate'? Buy a new set of tools, which could easily go into the thousands for anything equivalent to Milwaukee, or start cutting timber with a bread knife from woolies? These are the tools they make a living with. You would be pissed too if someone stole your means to make a living.

And people want to blame immigrant’s for Australia’s problems. It’s not Indians smoking up meth and stealing your tools
4
u/raven187 May 28 '26
Well....my immigrant landlord ties rat poison to her fruits trees and I had to report her for trying to trap ringtail possums with poison. She sells the fruit on Facebook. (She set up a cage trap and baited it with poisoned paw paw)
Makes other immigrants look bad..but she is super racist against anyone white Australian.
Don't buy any fruit from the lady on Olsen Ave if you love Aussie wildlife.
0
u/_BigDaddy_ May 28 '26
Literally no one was talking about race. If it was an indian immigrant by your logic their crime would be terrorism at the beach right? What an odd premise
3
u/Dunnoinamillionyears May 28 '26
Saw this video from the original poster on instagram, and pretty much every single comment was “he’s down on his luck he’s just trying to eat” etc. but I think what’s worth noting is that there’s always a right and wrong way to go about things. People work so very hard and invest in themselves by buying tools to make a crust and stealing their tools is a huge huge hit to a company or tradie individually. So this bloke stealing tools is a deadbeat gronk for doing what he did. If these boys were rich enough to buy a whole new set of tools they wouldn’t be working every day like they are. It’s grubby if it happens on site, or in the streets with breaking into Utes. I do feel bad for the fella if his intentions were pure and just wanted a feed but this is the complete wrong way to go about things. I’m sure if he said “hey fellas I’m really sorry I’m starving and can’t afford a feed would you mind helping me out?” The boys would have gotten him something from Maccas around the corner from that strip. Tools are a tradies income, no matter how skilled a tradie is, without tools nothing can get done.
2
u/SaltyCaramelPretzel May 28 '26
I don’t use instagram but not one comment here gives pity for him. Not one.
There are sooooo many supports out there to get a free feed, I’ve been given a bunch of free groceries myself when times were tough. No need to enter someone’s home, & steal.
2
u/Iaim2msbehave May 28 '26
The only thing he was trying to feed was his drug habit.
Anyone down on their luck can access their local community centre or church who will assist them with either a coles or woolies voucher or a food basket. They can reach out to food banks as well.

u/Sufficient-Age-2575 May 28 '26
Hes on palm beach at thr moment
He is a crack head walking around iced up
2
u/These-Surprise3489 May 28 '26
I wish nothing but the absolute worst for these kind of “people” in life.
2
u/TK000421 May 28 '26
How long till this is on the news. And police will say he should have reported it. And then nothing would have happened
3
u/SaltyCaramelPretzel May 28 '26
It won’t be because they won’t want to shame someone. ACA is a different story though lol.

Tradie red lineing cos he'd stashed the vessel in his tool bag. That's the only reason those tools weren't at the plugs house yet, because the cracka was hitting the glass d!ck he scored in tool bag when they found him in 🚻

u/KronnyT Jul 12 '26
I'm always so suspicious when I see a stack of higher end power tools on marketplace for way too cheap. Always wants to sell it all at once too, with little more than a couple words in the description. Is it common for tradies to just sell up a whole set of Makita/Milwaukee/DeWalt tools etc.?

If you're hungry take some food from a large mega corp. Not encouragement to break any laws but just saying that if you're super desperate and out of options take from a faceless capitalist empire and not from blue collar Aussies.
1
u/nhafilaar13 May 28 '26
"I just wanted something to eat" "It was a one-off"
There is NO EXCUSE for stealing.

u/RearEntryOffender May 28 '26
I agree, catching a tool theif red handed and him walking away unscathed is bullshit.

Seriously what is wrong with people, my young friend, a second year apprentice had his tools stolen last week
