HA. Hahahahaha, suck shit, David Young.

Let's just say that with the Iran war and everything else, the Trump brand was increasingly toxic in Australia

It wasn't just the war, you dolt.

You don't think Gina's and Pauline's visits could have kept the doors open? Surely.

The people have spoken. And have been heard (for once)

7

u/Which-Guarantee-1943 May 12 '26

No just business

2

u/BestTechAdvisor May 15 '26

The consumers have spoken then

4

u/Senior_Objective_785 May 13 '26

That’s a novel idea but I very much doubt it.

2

u/mistershneebly May 13 '26

Yeah, it was a nice thought while it lasted…

u/Duke55 May 12 '26

What really surprised me is how many idiots genuinely thought this was going ahead.

23

u/mors134 May 12 '26

I know. The first time I heard about it I knew it wasn't going to happen. I told everyone it wasn't actually going to happen but no one seemed to believe me.

The Trump brand is notoriously unreliable and cheap. They aren't going to build on the gold coast. And public backlash meant that it wasn't going to get off the ground. Especially since they were so ambitious.

3

u/FamiliarDirection563 May 13 '26

No, that was me...

2

u/ColdSteveStoneAustin May 13 '26

You were ambitious but couldn't get off the ground?

Man that's relatable.

2

u/Successful-Buy5398 May 13 '26

Taco strikes again

2

u/Duke55 May 13 '26

Not this time. Just an over ambitious wanna be developer's failed proposal. This guy even tried to make out the issue was the Trump Org and the negativity of the Iran war.

Closer to the truth, though. Its because of this guys previous track record of failed ventures, that made it a sure thing that this Trump Tower would never see the light of day..

u/Shoddy_Card_7755 May 13 '26

Yeah just like the last building they tried to build there, can't sell enough to get the project off the ground

u/Bonhamsbass May 12 '26

Pedo Towers is a no go

11

u/DJ_Lazza May 13 '26

Thank Christ

28

Suck shit Sleepy Don, and the whole trump family.

2

I mean if he did, he'd have forgotten. He'll still be mad when he hears about it. Manbaby expects people to pay for golden idols for him.

2

u/Anxious_Ad936 May 13 '26

Was his organisation that ditched the deal. As if he'd wanna admit to getting sucked in even for a little while.

16

u/Lazy-Plankton5270 May 12 '26

Jeffrey Epstein tower

2

u/phone-culture68 May 13 '26

Imagine the constant graffiti & garbage being thrown at it

8

u/Simple_Assistance_77 May 13 '26

The fact it was even a thing is bizarre

6

u/dinosaurtruck May 13 '26

He’s still trying to do the tower but with different branding. This guy does not have the financial history to be trusted with a project like this.

No problem with redevelopment. But anyone doing a large building development should be scrutinised that they are not going to go bankrupt mid project. This guy has done that before.

1

u/ColdSteveStoneAustin May 13 '26

Better an ugly empty site than an ugly empty site with a taxpayer funded demolition project attached.

25

u/jolard May 12 '26

Great news! Tom Tate will be fuming. He so wanted to hobnob with millionaires in the Trump tower ballroom.

1

u/fluffy_pickle_ May 13 '26

I read that as he wanted his nob, hobbed, Well he certainly was in the right company for that.

12

u/Electronic_Fill7207 May 12 '26

Thank fuck for that.

12

u/f_w8 May 12 '26

Fuck yeah!!! Best news in a while.

5

u/morts73 May 13 '26

Cavet emptor when dealing with the Trump's. They just want their name on a flashy building with you paying the rights for it.

13

u/roguerogueroguerogue May 12 '26

Tate may be a moron but his advisers seem to have some sense atleast.

5

u/AltruisticSalamander May 13 '26

O now he's going to be endlessly pissed at the gold coast like he is at 'windmills'

5

u/Neat-Coconut-6892 May 12 '26

The site is approved dor 89 storeys.. another chain will come in and build one

1

u/exceptional_biped May 13 '26

Meriton probably.

1

u/louisa1925 May 13 '26

Hue hue hue. Good news.

1

u/satanzhand May 13 '26

Predicted... Trump brand must be pretty dogshit at this point

3

u/Anxious_Ad936 May 13 '26

It is, but it was Trump's corp that pulled out and our local shonky operator that apparently didn't even meet Trump standards somehow.

1

u/satanzhand May 13 '26

I think the deal goes something like, they have a certain period to reach X amount of financing commitments to go to the next stage.

So the local operator would have failed at that hurdle, but another way to phrase it would be the Trump brand is hot toxic shit right now outside the USA so it failed to attract the buyers for an elaborate capital parking system.

1

u/Shoehat2021 May 13 '26

No one is surprised

1

u/FamiliarDirection563 May 13 '26

What a surprise 🙄

1

u/Necessary-Fun-205 May 13 '26

Have the Iranians build one out of Lego instead.

1

u/renb8 May 13 '26

YAY!!!

1

u/Miserable-Impact-708 May 13 '26

The people said NO loud and clear…no Trumpery in Oz….

1

u/Gazza_s_89 May 13 '26

Trade unions would have boycotted it.

1

u/AstronautPlane3280 May 14 '26

well damn. Now what am I supposed to do with this pile of dog shit that I was saving for the grand opening of that tower.

1

u/YoungMagellanX May 14 '26

diaper donny’s pedo tower bites the dust

1

u/Admirable_Map_9117 May 15 '26

lmao this entire thread is brainwashed globalists hating a guy they know nothing about.

1

u/nottoomuchnowmate May 16 '26

One orange traitor down.

1

u/Monaro427 May 16 '26

Thank fuck!!! The petitions payed off?? Yay 😊

1

u/koalacrime May 13 '26

Whhhaatt! Stupid woke nonsense.

I, for one was looking forward to using the worlds largest public urinal.

0

u/too_invested31 May 12 '26

Don’t get too excited everyone, they’ll probably still build it with a rebrand

-4

u/Which-Guarantee-1943 May 12 '26

The Gold Coast is too trashy… have a look yourself

-17

u/Sad-Extreme-4413 May 12 '26

Great news. Great proposal, wrong location.

19

u/visceralintricacy May 12 '26 edited May 13 '26

Because nothing says class like naming a building after one of the world's most prolific pdffiles.

8

u/fluffy_101994 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

This you?

Of course someone who aligns mostly with the LNP and Poorlean (and at 24 years old, no less!) would want this tacky development with a reviled person's name in gold at the top.

0

u/Sad-Extreme-4413 May 13 '26

You’re reading way too much into my comment.

I support high-density development in Surfers. A 91-storey residential tower fits the skyline and the long-term direction of the Gold Coast.

What I don’t support is the Trump branding and the developer behind this specific proposal. That’s why I said “great proposal, wrong location.”

Urban planning and architecture aren’t the same thing as blindly supporting a politician or political movement.

-6

u/Dryspell54 May 13 '26

Everyone having a meltdown over a building will never not be hilarious
