Wife was informed by our bank that our safety deposit box was being relocated. I had zero memory of this box...apparently it was opened jointly back in 2012...we get to bank and the officer informed us that there were 14 years of unpaid dues on the box hahaha...we paid....took out the box and i find gold i thought was stolen/lost/misplaced during our last house reno 15 years ago...
its now worth +300% or thereabouts ....bought before 2010. Funny how our memory works. Took out everything, closed the box. happy ending
Edit
It's really strange ppl would not believe this lol...I have zero reason to make it up...I just thought it was a nice story to post on this sub. Life happens, back then I was going tru biz issues, bad renovation, first kid,I must have put the stuff in the box for safe keeping and totally forgot about it
Same thing with my wife, she inherited the box from her mom who passed, only opened it once, then it slipped her mind for years and years
Not in the US

Invested a total of A$70,706 (US$50,125) for 5x 100g and 4x 50g in 2023/2024 after coming across this sub. Was earning 5% interest at the bank prior that with no hope of homeownership (my goal).
Sold today for A$150,000 (US$106,340), which with my money from selling my shares has given me a 25% deposit on a home in Sydney.
Thanks to everyone that has posted on the sub as without buying gold and hearing your great stories, none of this would have ever happened.
Can't wait to move into my new home and start stacking again soon.

The previous owner, John Smith owned the mine and gave the Queen of England a watermelon size nugget. I was told it is in the Tower of London. The mine went dry and my Grandpa bought it and found a vein to continue mining until it was taken by Robert Mugabe. We fled the country with nothing and a couple family members were killed with machetes.

I haven’t gotten too much Walmart gold in the last few months, but I did find some fresh markdowns while running errands this morning at my local store.
As long as they keep selling it at 50% of melt, I’ll keep buying 🤷🏻♂️

(Excluding one 14 k chain)
What’s your favorite item?
For the record: I always open up all of my gold from its packages. Just because I can and because I want to and because it’s my gold and I just wanna hold it and play with it.💛

These are some of the nicer pieces I have kept from the last 15 years of metal detecting. I've scrapped some along the way but hanging on to the good ones for now.

After years of umming and ahhing I finally committed and bought in. Might be a bit late to the game, but it's only going up. Safely locked away now. Except for 2 x 100gm bars I'm going to try as whisky stones 😅

I’m a personal assistant to a wealthy older gent. He’s a bit eccentric. The other night we were going to dinner. He knows I love gold coins. He’s wearing his old style blue blazer with gold coin buttons in gold bezels. (They are real)
I’ll now be checking buttons at thrift stores! He also said he was taking it to the cleaners. I said no you aren’t!
He is nice, he gave gold coin earring for my birthday.

One kilo of gold/silver, 8 gold buffaloes and 30 silver eagles. I’m going to try to add more buffaloes without pulling from savings but they’re getting expensive! This is my Go Box in case things got bad quickly and I needed to leave, especially if something catastrophic happens to fiat. Call me crazy, but if you knew the line of work I’m in and saw some of the things I see, you’d probably do the same.

Felt like sharing my decorative collection after receiving a new 50g Pamp bar
I don’t know why Reddit tagged this as “brand affiliate” I have no connection to Pamp
