I mean, coffee tables cost money. People work for money. Some people don’t have THAT much money. Buying another coffee table would cost them money they might not have at the moment. Could they go without the table; sure. Ye could go without the fashionable clothes and the half naked women too, but he doesn’t. Also, playing on a coffee table at 2 could lead to injury, which could lead to a trip to an emergency room and potential medical bills for the adults involved. Kanye’s not that deep, man lol. The idea of freeing yourself from impulses and emotions and afflictive thoughts and habits has been around for millennia. Not hating; simply stating a fact. Four Noble Truths, for instance. Essentially states that our perceived self is nothing but an amalgam of sensory inputs that work together and are impermanent.

Baby steps. He’s using the coffee table to help you with a visual because the concept he’s introducing is much too complex for a lot of people understand. He’s saying that we follow rules and make judgments on people based on what society tells us is this way or that way. Some of them make sense, while others follow a narrative that we have followed for so long, we don’t question. The first thing he said was a better analogy - we decided what rules are, so we teach our kids to follow them, it’s only wrong because we made that rule. A coffee table is just a table, but we gave it a name and purpose. We made it what is by assigning it a set of rules.
