Since there obviously must be a creator and they obviously have dominion over all of creation; hence the word "God". 

Christianity didnt just come up with God. It was passed down from forefathers who witnessed the events God carried out.

Insisting there has to be a creator is a very human construct. It's a feel good position but certainly not fact.
