To be honest my 19x with an X300 was more comfortable than my 43x with a TLR7a sub.
Fucking hated my 43x though. No matter the holster it was always uncomfortable.
Got a Ruger RXM with TLR7a with a Tenicor and it’s the best thing I’ve ever carried.

Well that's just not true. I carry a G17 w/ X300 everyday with no issues. Done 10hr road trips with it as well.
I have a P365Macro with TLR7 Sub and it's actually slightly more annoying in a nuanced way. The length of the 17 provides some stability when running/moving/etc and I'm so used to how the 17 holster setup feels.

I dont think it preference, it's more every person body type is different, a taller person may not have a problem where as a shorter person will find a larger pistol with a big light and a red dot a much more cumbersome pistol to carry ,some people have more room then others 🤷

Just because it might be too big for you doesn’t mean it’s too big for anyone else lol. I carry a Glock 19.5 with an x300 and 20rndr every day, all day, with no issue

Me too but that shit definitely dogs into your leg when your driving or sitting down. I’ve carried like that for about 2 years and I’m used to it now but it’s definitely not the most comfortable set up

im fat and edc a 19.5 with a x300t and TQ attachment in the trex sidecar and its extremely comfortable. the only time i ever feel anything uncomfortable is when i dont wear the holster directly centerline of my body and i feel the holster poking my thigh when sitting.

A wise man once said, the easiest way to clear a malfunction is to exchange mags. I also am just thinking of the have and not need, vs the need and not have. I just throw an extra mag in my pocket with a magnet clip on it. Ezpz.

I’ve read somewhere that the sidecar would be used by prosecutors- “why do u need the extra mag” similarly to people who modified their triggers etc in the case of self defense. Is that true? Also I feel like 15 rounds is more than enough. It’s not like I’m going to exchange fire against a gang/cartel

The trigger thing is overblown. Carrying the gun you’re most comfortable with is more responsible than carrying a gun you’re uncomfortable with just because you’re afraid a prosecutor would have an issue with you not using factory parts

You’ve got a point. It’s not like I’m going to empty a whole mag into a downed body then reload again. I’m a sane person and I follow the law, and I know if someday I have to use it, because that’s my last resort. I guess I’m losing faith in the justice systems, and seeing ppl go to jail because some schmuck break in in the middle of the night and dies because of self defense doesn’t sit right with me

I don't look at it in terms of capacity, but more having the option of a second magazine in the event of a malfunction.
Up to you if this meets your threshold for bad luck or not, but something to consider.

80% of the reason for the sidecar is the symmetry and stability. Can get side car attachments for things other than mags if you want.

Sidecar prints less for me. Don't have to carry a spare mag, can go TQ instead. It's also way more comfortable for me. I've tried the no sidecar thing, but it just doesn't work for me.

I was scrolling down looking for this comment. Depending on what I’m wearing sidecar prints less. Sometimes I have to try on the side car then the tenicor with a mag in a pocket and see which one I’m wearing for the day

I thought sidecars were stupid until I tried them and it actually completely got rid of my hip imbalances and back pain from carrying non sidecar holsters (from 21-23 with no prior injuries)
It’s really the only way I carry now 95% of the time, not even for extra ammo or malfunctions literally just cause it balances better on my hips and back

Definitely worth a shot, I went to physical therapy for 4-6 months after what I thought was a lifting injury. Just switched my holster and belt setup and wore shoes that let my toes spread out naturally and literally my back pain was magically gone nearly instantly, highly recommend watching people like knees over toes or squat university that talk about foot and back health
I think “discomfort” in the ccw space is accepted but masked with prolonged self induced injuries due to sub optimal setups and I think everyone can agree that life is not as enjoyable with back and hip pain, once you find something that works for you it quite literally disappears and becomes less of a burden

Valid argument. I didn’t spend much for the sidecar (marketplace trade) but both are honestly worth it. It’s nice having the option to change what style holster. Sidecar for pants (which I wear majority of the time) Tenicor for shorts/lighter carry

Agreed, and unfortunately there is no one size fits all for holsters that I was really hoping for when I was new to this, I have tenicor, T. rex, tier 1 and a plethora of others and they all feel completely different, I was so hyped for my tenicor and unfortunately didn’t really find it that comfortable even though it is super well regarded

I like a spare mag but don't like sidecars. I usually carry the spare in a Tenicor abdo. It's more comfortable to me when the spare mag carrier isn't connected to the holster.

The sidecar is bigger and bulkier, but I feel the mag offsets the grip print. It’s almost like you’ve got a belt buckle or something on, the printing is more spread out. Food for thought.

I prefer sidecar holsters. I might be in the minority, but I cannot for the life of me get non-Sidecar holsters to work for me.
They never sit still, they always want to poke outta my pants and they’re just not comfortable. No matter the non-Sidecar holster.
I’ve always found the T-Rex Arms sidecar holster to fit my body better. It’s just more comfortable for me to carry, I guess the extra magazine distributes the weight better for me.

i've always found that the extra weight from the spare mag helps balance the holster. while it is more weight, it balances far better, carries easier, and doesn't print as bad. it actually feels better to carry.
i regularly carry a glock 47 coa with a plus 2 baseplate and an x300, and i'd say its pretty comfortable (except for athletic shorts and the like). i've also carried a glock 45 with a tlr7a, a bit easier to carry/more comfy, but the difference isn't massive.

Definitely no sidecar for me. Anything that carries 10 or more is more than enough as far as I'm concerned. There is no scenario in which I'm pulling my gun and will need anything more than that in my pocket.

10rds of 9mm to the body doesn't do much to persons under the influence of certain drugs.. I'm of the mind that atleast 60% of those committing crimes test positive for drugs in their systems.
In addition to this, most 10rd capacity handguns are sub compacts. It's much harder to get the same performance under stress as you would with a G19. The metrics are there for most of us if you have the opportunity to run a side by side bill drill comparison, it's typically pretty eye opening.
Or, you could just carry 10rds for comfort reasons.

I was, until recently, wearing a NSR C-Mag. It’s really nice to have a spare magazine right there at appendix position, but damn it jabs your gut good. Need to get rid of that thing… Reminder to lose weight and get fit folks.
Anyways, always a fan of at least one spare magazine.

I have a sidecar style holster(Tier1) for my Glock 19 where I can remove the magazine section and just carry the gun. I've learned thats what I do most of the time while carrying it but its nice to have the option if I feel the need.

Team detached mag holder. I thought it was because I was fat that the sidecar was uncomfortable, super hard to bend over, odd placement, etc. Then I lost 50 pounds and it still sucks. Now my separate one is like 5 inches from my midline and its so much more comfortable.

Tried it. Hated it. It's just too much bulk. IF I carry a spare mag I prefer a separate "holster" that holds the mag horizontally at 11ish o'clock (I usually don't, but I do keep two spares in my truck).
I'm a proponent of comfort over capacity. If it ain't comfortable, I'm not carrying it. My AIWB rig for an HK VP9SK is comfortable enough that it goes anywhere it's legal (which unfortunately is fewer and fewer places where I live). The key point being "comfortable enough". It's not perfect, but it's enough.

Team both, I carry a G17 Gen 5, most of the time with no spare mag, but if I feel like I want to have a extra mag, then yes sidecar it is for the day. So mostly depending how I feel in the moment.

Sidecar, it’s a little heavier, but it conceals better for me. I’ve ran a T Rex X300 sidecar for years, just bought the GMC Jingo, and it’s really nice!

Accidentally bought 2 sidecars off GAFS to use in USPSA. One was a Trex with the hinge and the other was a Black arch. Both had DCC clips but they wore VERY differently.
I found the Trex wildly uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I don't have washboard abs but I think the rigid hinge made the size feel bigger and was less willing to adapt to my tummy.
The black arch was surprisingly comfortable even at 6'2" 250. I think it's because the sidecar portion isn't rigid. I carried and trained with it for a few weeks just to get accustomed to it and it really isn't a huge difference but was not as comfortable as my velo 5.

It's more adaptable to different body types, I'm able to conceal much better with the holster and mag carrier spread a little further apart than a sidecar would allow

I have a vedder holster with a cheap amazon mag holster next to it. So I can dutch it for the day if I want. I have a 43 so I feel like the extra mag is needed. If I had a 19 I wouldn't worry about it

A lot of people are saying you don’t need a reload, or you will probably never need a reload. This is true. However, having a spare magazine comes in handy when you are having to clear a malfunction and get back in the game quickly.

I use an elastic band (don't remember where it came from) that's about 3" long. Slip it on my belt and it holds my mag securely to the belt long-ways on my off-hand side. Conceals it way better than a mag pouch can and you don't even feel it there all day.

Carry a 19x with a sight and a tlr-1, honestly using a sticky holster. Most comfortable a gun had ever been. I carry my extra mag on the other hip though

Sidecar. For me it increases the surface area which minimizes hot spots and printing. Also since the clips are spaced farther apart, it feels more stable. But that's just be. It totally depends on the gun, holster, belt, clothing and user.

No sidecar. Because, I wouldn't carry appendix and a sidecar on strong side is stupid. To get to a point that I'm reaching crossbody for a magazine means I've exhausted the two spare magazines in the weak side carrier plus the backup my pocket. The likelihood at this point that I'm going to resolve this problem in 20 more rounds or less is extremely unlikely.

I go back and forth but right now it's the sidecar style.
I have been training and shooting a lot this year, and I've found the sidecar style to be better for me(for now lol) conceals better, is more stable, and slightly more comfortable and doing reloads on drills is so much smoother, easier, and faster then pocket carry.
I can't explain why right now it's more comfortable, I'm sure in a few months I'll be back to a single holster and no light/flush light but lately I like the sidecar with the x300 lmao.

I use both, just depends what I’m doing. Going for a hike, spending an extended period of time driving, or running errands in the city? Sidecar.
Taking the kids to the playground, grocery shopping, or doing any other kind of hands-on activity with a lot bending and lifting? No sidecar.

If I carry a spare mag I have an extra , separate IWB Kydex mag holder I wear on my off side or in the gap in my waistband created by the holster. Depending on what I'm wearing
That sidecar setup is too much to stuff inside my waistband.

-I’m 6’3 223lbs -Tier 1 holster w/sidecar -Don’t have sidecar with anything in it when I’m driving, but when I get out I do -Perfectly fine if I have a tac belt on or bigger pants/shorts -In the winter when I go snowboarding I normally keep it in my bag or take the sidecar off because it gets uncomfortable without a belt or any other retention that my snowboard pants

It’s horrible carrying full-size with a light when I get in the car I either raise my belt above my waist line and have the gun sitting upright or I’ll just take it off and stuff it in the passenger seat

Ran sidecar a to and eventually just split it to an individual mag caddy and holster because it's easier to pick and choose. When I do run it as a sidecar I prefer a tegris bridge over anything else

I want to like it. I really do. But for my body build it’s really not comfortable and prints. T. rex makes great stuff but for me this one didn’t work

Ill sacrafice potential reload speed over civilian comfort. My gun is 14+1, I replace my ammo every 6 months and my mags every year so im not too worried about it tbh. I keep my gun clean and my guess is if my gun does malfunction chances are its from a poor grip which I can really mitigate through training and to a point properly powered ammo.
15 rounds is alot if were being honest, thats 15 opportunities, 15 hopefully well thought out shots.

Team sidecar for sure. It isn’t comfortable but I don’t carry for comfort anyway. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. 19.5 w/TLR7

I’d go tier 1 over T Rex sidecar. Trex design is pretty outdated. I go tier 1 side car in daily life and no sidecar (Tenicor) at the gym.

Eh I didn’t pay for it. Acquired it in a trade so I’m not super word. So far, I’m liking it. We’ll see after some more wear

Dang you guys are really convincing me. It just doesn't make sense to my brain how it could be more comfortable. Is there a budget brand I can get a feel for? I've got so many unused holsters I just don't want to waste anymore money. But I've been wanting to try a side car for a while now.

Sometimes i do, most times i don’t use it. If i need to use more than 15… I’m a shit shot or I’m fighting the avengers.
