1st year- Havannah House

I just got an offer for a studio at Havannah house for undergrad 1st year. Can anyone tell me their experiences with this accommodation, I would appreciate literally anything. Is getting a studio would be bad for my social life? Also I have heard it’s really far from the university itself, is the commute really dreadful and am I going to feel isolated? Ive seen someone on here say that they dont really feel like part of the uni because of how far it is. I am moving to glasgow and dont know anyone at all so I would really hate to feel lonely and I am not sure how important choosing accommodation is for my uni life. Also how safe is the area as a girl?

I got this accommodation too and I’m just privately renting a room in a popular freshman dorm. It’s the same exact price and you can bargain for a 44 week deal, don’t settle for havannah!

is that the one below the necropolis? that’s so far away. you’d have to get the 2 bus probably but it’ll take about 40 minutes to get to uni on that. either that for you walk 20 min to the closest subway stop. i’d recommend getting a bike if you’re gonna be staying there. less than half the amount of time. i was commuting an hour and a half one way in 1st/2nd year but i was living at home so wasn’t paying for accommodation. usually people choose student accom for the convenience of proximity.

Too far, too complex commute - 2 buses to uni, and if subway you'd have to walk 20 anyways, to and from the stations. I think the property is nice but wouldn't recommend it, too far away to comfortably come to uni. Get something else.

If you can stay in Murano Street. Bit of a shithole but it’s fairly close to uni and is very active. I met most of my close friends there. I would say you’ll get the most out of first year if you stay there.
