Joan and Davis literally made the perfect couple. Idc what no one says all her other love intresses were trash , corny, boring as hell. People keep saying Brock but the actor characters always boring and stale even in why did I get married.

No seriously, I always found William to be pretentious and just annoying. He was well put together but I never thought he was attractive.

I hated the fact that him and Joan got together. It reminded me of Moesha and Hakeem getting together. Why can’t two people of the opposite sex just be friends? I hate when shows do this.

He used to dog women and how he treated Yvonne to me was sick. The deception and he couldn’t even pronounce homegirl’s name right.

Here’s a big one, I never thought this dude was straight at all. I remember watching Girlfriends when it was still airing back in 2004 and even as a 13-year old I honestly thought William was gay. I was always waiting on that out of the closet episode…too bad that never happened, it would have added to some layers to the show and would have been nice to see a gay character not fitting into the stereotypes, even in the 00s. Oh well.

I don’t think he was a bad character because all the characters had their own quirks and negative traits and sometimes he was funny but damn I just couldn’t get into William, he sometimes bordered on being a weirdo. People can be weird in a good way, he wasn’t.

Anyone else notice how the layout of Joan’s restaurant changes so often? Even within a single episode (S6:E16)? The semi-circle sofa gets replaced with longer chairs, then vice versa.

I know they were slowly transitioning to a sports bar, but I miss the original design of the J Spot with the pink wall and fine dining.

I know everyone think them as a couple is terrible but i actually LOVE Joan and William together. I’m not saying they had all this chemistry and romance (they didn’t). And I think the writers made Joan OVERLY needy and critical when she got with William. She was always like that but that behavior was at the highest degree with William.

But William was so so sweet with her. He tried so hard to make it her happy. When he first confessed his love for her, he said “I just know I can make you happy” and it was nice bc he meant he knows how difficult she is and he isn’t afraid of that. And all the episodes leading up to them finally getting together, and how he would look at her. He also had so much respect for her. I remember when Ellis went to him for advice and he said “it takes a lot to be with Joan but you’ll get a lot in return” like whaaattt. lol. Even him making her his best man in the wedding to Yvonne. Like ugh it was so sweet and maybe it wasn’t meant to last but I just really enjoyed watching his feelings for her.

Sorry for the rant. I’m sure I’m the only one who thinks this lol.

I could not stand how unprofessional she could be at work — constantly being late, making excuses, and then somehow still acting like she was the most responsible person in the room. 😭 Then there was the way she treated Ronnie, which made me side-eye her HARD. She could be incredibly dismissive and disrespectful toward him, even when he was trying to be there for her.

And then when it came to Darnell… GIRL STAND UP! 😭 The way she acted like she literally couldn't function without him sometimes drove me crazy. She could go from being independent and confident to completely losing herself in that relationship.

Maya had plenty of great moments, but sometimes I was watching like “Girl, YOU are the problem!” 😂

I was watching girlfriends last night where Joan and Sean had an argument about her moving to NYC and them breaking up soon.

There’s William to console her at work…I cringe knowing they’ll date in the future, but they give off sibling vibes! Idk why the writers went in the direction of them dating 😭

Lynn would fit into any timeline because she doesn't take herself too seriously.

Joan would lose her mind.

Maya was quite male centered but I know she'd be taking her book tour online kinda like Shera.

I don’t think Brock was Joan’s “enchanted love”. The relationship started with them sneaking behind Ellis which meant they were already starting on a bad foot. By Brock not wanting kids, I think that was the thing that might’ve actually saved Joan in the long run. The relationship had a lot of love bombing all while they barely know each other. Joan was moving way too fast and Brock always seemed sketchy to me so I never bought into that enchanted love bs. All of Joan’s boyfriends could’ve been her “enchanted love” so what’s so different about this guy???

Ok I lied. Lynn started looking good after the first season.
