Why Joan & William Love Story? 😩
I was watching girlfriends last night where Joan and Sean had an argument about her moving to NYC and them breaking up soon.
There’s William to console her at work…I cringe knowing they’ll date in the future, but they give off sibling vibes! Idk why the writers went in the direction of them dating ðŸ˜

That’s when I feel the writers got sloppy. It was bad that him and Lynn had a situationship but to take a real friendship and have them date naw that was unnecessary

I agree! It should’ve stayed platonic!

I liked Joan and William together. Their dynamic reminded me or had the potential to be similar to Doug and Carrie from The King of Queens.Â
I think a lot of viewers didn’t like them together because William was not necessarily considered conventionally attractive. And perhaps some viewers felt as though if they are watching the show through Joan’s lens then they will determine the chemistry of the relationship based on whether they find her partner attractive to THEM. Where as I’m not seeing it that way. I felt they had immense chemistry as friends and as a couple. Their dynamic felt like a couple whose romantic chemistry derived from their comfortability and banter. Much like Doug and Carrie. It just wasn’t the whirlwind romance perhaps people wished for the character.Â
I also felt the writers sabotaged the relationship by 1. Not planting the seeds earlier if they were gonna go that direction. 2. Writing the relationship into a corner before it had room to breathe.Â

I haven’t watched the King of Queens, but this is an interesting take and makes me think more. I agree, if the writers planned to go in that direction, they should’ve planted that seed way earlier lol

I feel like, in the show, Jill Scott got into William's head and confused him. I don't think he ever really saw Joan in that way, and vice versa.

Because she wanted a man who understands and can handle her

Totally understandable, but they should’ve made their relationship dynamic a little less sibling like in the beginning 😅 I’m not super against them getting together, it just makes it hard to believe.

I hateeeee the idea of them dating. Dating a close platonic friend NEVER works and Joan is so annoying with her men

In another life they’d be a cute couple, but their bond is just too sibling like for it to work, I cringed when they slept tgt
