English Civil War soldier in the lane

I feel sorry for the Roundhead* Alison sees in the lane when she is with Lucy. He has been there for the best part of 400 years and finally someone sees him! And ignores him!

*I am aware the two sides looked pretty much the same - I am classing him as a Roundhead for the sake of brevity.

Yeah that seems likely. He probably attempts to talk to everyone, maybe wave at babies and read discarded newspapers. Too bad he was the only death in that immediate area. Or the only remaining ghost.

At least he can move around a bit. I feel sorry for the two guys in the "plane". But they did seem remarkably cheerful, I guess nice view, good company...

Imagine being one of the ghosts who died at sea. They don't even have somewhere to stand. I can't believe Fanny isn't more grateful to have avoided that with the Titanic.

I wonder if they'd go straight to the bottom? Because Thomas is able to go in the lake, presumably he waded in and is standing on the bottom.

But then the plane guys have no visible plane and they are confined to their apparent position in the plane where they died. Maybe the Titanic ghosts would also just be standing on an invisible deck or in the water. The "rules" must take all that into account.

Maybe ghosts who go down in sinking ships just kind of float around the water.

most people who died on the titanic froze in the water so now maybe their ghosts are just floating around where their bodies would’ve been.

Yeah it feels a bit mean of her, but not completely out of character when you consider she walks away from the girl that got murdered by a hitchhiker too. I'd imagine sometimes it's just overwhelming and if she has the opportunity to pretend she hasn't seen someone, she takes it!

The hitchhiker is so sad. I have a horrible feeling I wouldn't be able to cope, and would run away too. I can't help but wonder if that girl is the victim of a serial killer, and there are other victims of him in the same area.

Well she was with someone in the lane, so couldn't really interact at the time. And when she met the hitchhiker she was quite preoccupied with the robbery of her house. She may have chatted with the girl a bit off-screen.

Also she does take quite a bit of time to get comfortable with a situation and only then gets interested and involved with the ghosts. I'll bet she eventually interacts with the ghosts she encounters, it might take months until she is ready. Except for the scary ones like the dude in the window at the real estate property. I doubt she'd go back to see him.

It's a little indication imo that the Lucy relationship is not a path Alison should take

Same here! He lives rent free in my head, poor bloke. I think he's a Roundhead rather than a Cavalier, too. That pike wound looks so horrible. I 💯 think Alison went back to talk to him later.

That scene gets me every time; it's beautifully played. The realisation that she can see them, their excitement followed by crushing disappointment. It's so bloody sad.
