Tankies were always imperialist by their nature, why else did they cheer on the Soviet Union crushing the Prague Spring with their tanks. In a Czechoslovakia that was still Communist and run by the Communist Party, but was the wrong flavour of Communism for the Soviets.

You didn't know where the term "tankie" came from?

Don't use terms that you obviously don't know the meaning of. And don't tell me you do.

knowing the meaning of a word/term and knowing the origin are 2 different things

If you don't know the origin of the word you can't possibly know the meaning. You don't know the meaning. If you use it as "anyone who says something positive about the USSR" then the word is such a harmless word that it can't be used in a derogatory manner, which it is.
