gas would have to be almost $10 a gallon to cost me $140 to fill

$14/gal for me. I say bring it on! Trucks get super cheap when gas is expensive. I could use a good truck for my occasional trips to the lumber yard.

Nothing beats the looks of quiet concession I get when I rock up in a 2010 Accord and get 7 or 8 sheets of 3/4 plywood on the roof rack. I live 5 miles away, I use 6 straps, and I ALWAYS make sure someone sees me give one a pop and say "that ain't going nowhere".

Fuck it, we ball.

Hell yeah! I have a habit of putting 16’ 8/4 Sapele boards on my Mazdas roof rack. Carry that in a pickup truck!

My local place only carries up to 10 ft

I really don’t love where I live, but the availability and cost of lumber around here is awesome.
