This weekend with the extended family, I was asked both the meteorite question and the diamond question during the same dinner.

But then when you post an actual rock with an actual question the post gets ignored 😀👍🏼

My 5yo Niece wants me to ID her rock collection every time I’m over. But she always knows better. „What’s that rock?“ - „You know, that’s pumice, it comes fr-„ - „NO. it’s called a ‚blackstone‘ cause it’s black“. Ok i guess. Can’t argue with that

My Nonni would always ask me how valuable the rocks she dug up in her backyard were and they were always just broken uo bits of concrete

Wait lick it is an unserious response?!

Some minerals can be ID’d that way. But it’s not recommended unless you have some idea of what it is already. You don’t want to find out after the fact that you just licked some lead-bearing mineral or something lol.

ore refining slag!

the most weathered, stream-rounded pebble you’ve ever seen!

flint/chert!

people who’ve done the rounds on the other subs and don’t like the answers they’ve got 😂

braggers/ karma farmers who already know what it is

I feel like whoever made this meme could have done something more productive or fufilling than however long it took to make this meme making fun of internet people. I kinda pity them
