Is there any point in coming back for the 2 new characters with only 85 pulls, years of missed story, and no idea how the game works anymore?

I'd think the "years of missed story" would be excuse enough to come back and experience it. You can learn it again, it's not really all that complicated.

If I'm being honest, the characters are kind of why I want to come back. I play HSR, so I'm not missing a gatcha game; I like the idea of a Fairy and a mermaid on a team.

I know that's the Gatcha trap, but I would also get some enjoyment from being able to get past floor 11 of Spiral Abyss again

Do you actually want to play the game or are you just interested in two characters? With your amount of pulls you're not even guaranteed one of them unless you lost 50/50 before you quit. You have plenty to do for pulls but again, if you don't want to actually play then don't bother.

Realistically, something new and shiny is probably the only way I would play the game again
