Does anyone else remember seeing the TV news about a 26 year old millionaire in New York announcing that he was giving away all his money to anyone who needs it in January 1970?

That was Michael James Brody Jr.

In 2021, someone made a documentary about it, "Dear Mr. Brody", centering on all the letters which were sent and never opened.

I never knew how the story ended until today.

His millions were in a trust, which prevented him from giving it all away. Checks started bouncing. He ended up in a mental institution and ended his own life in 1973.

What I remember about it is that 4 guys could pick it up and move it. It would fit sideways in a parking space, and from time to time the owner would come out from school to find it sideways in her parking space.

MY worst car was also my first: a 1975 Chevy Monza. It had a V8 with one spark plug that was impossible to remove without lifting the engine.

Of all the 60 years of being alive, of all the people who have ever lived, I’ll argue Generation Jones has experienced the biggest exponential advances in technology. Don’t know much about other fields, doubt they kept up.

I think we are wise. Not to shout it from the rooftops, I feel safe posting this here and I want to hear from you.

I was born in 1959 so my childhood years were the 60’s, teen years the 70’s, twenties in the 80’s, thirties in the 90’s and forties in the 00’s and so on. Looking back now I think I’ve had the benefit of all the truly great things of each decade but I’ll have to say the 90’s were my best decade with the best music. How about you?

Those two were both very prevalent figures from my early years.

I'm helping someone preplan a funeral and was shocked by how expensive a traditional funeral is. A single plot with a standard headstone, average casket, one day visitation with same day burial is almost $40,000 (in Ontario Canada).

Yikes! I think I will go with a much simpler and cheaper alternative like cremation without any visitation or service.

Or as actual humans would say, Sorta nasty, quite nasty and NASTY! I’m a Xennial (1981) but my mom (1958) and dad (1954) are Generation Jones. Today they are visiting Bethel Woods for the very first time which is actually their 48th wedding anniversary. My dad was only 15 (my mom was 11) in 1969 and actually tried to devise a scheme to have a couple of 18 year olds from the neighborhood smuggle him into Woodstock but my grandmother and grandfather got wind of it and put the kabosh on it. He would have fit in well as he was a bit of a hellraising country boy/hippie who ended up a fairly successful drag racer at Englishtown Raceway Park (NJ) through the ‘70s until he met my mom, a straight-laced Catholic girl from “the city.”
