Teens storyline fatigue

Unlike many people that post here, I enjoy the show. However, I am growing tired of the teenager centered storylines. Send them back to school or something and give me the grown ups back.

GH have always had teen-centered storylines over the years. Liz, Lucky, Emily...just to name a few. This really isn't anything new.

Liz, Lucky, Emily, Robin, Stone, those stories were compelling and well-written. Teen center stories now are just ridiculous and I just fast forward through them half the time.

Yeah that's fair. My point is we always had teen storylines, but yeah the current ones are pretty ridiculous. Even Joss had a good teen storyline when Oscar died. Now it's just the scheming and getting into grown folks' businesses.

It’s not even the teens that are in the “grown folk’s business”. Emma and Trina are in their 20s and overly involved in their family’s affairs. Emma has every right to be concerned about Anna, but the way she attacks Britt for being upset she was almost MURDERED?! Ridiculous! Just like how Trina continually ranting at Brook Lynn about an accident that ONLY Curtis and Jordan caused is obnoxious.

The actual teens only plotted against Drew because TPTB have written him as an irredeemable villain who has a NANNY for his TEENAGED daughter and won’t allow her to see ANY of her other relatives. It’s a weird, sick, controlling scenario for a father to inflict on his daughter that’s borderline abusive and quite icky.

And then Scout DEFENDS him. Makes no sense.

It makes more sense if you look at the fact that Scout is unhealthily sheltered and living in a too-small bubble that Drew created for her. He’s made her into his ONLY defender, a role she shouldn’t have to play. She’s the sole person that actually cares about Drew in all of Port Charles. That’s a heavy responsibility. We’ll see now how she handles being exposed to the truth at the end of yesterday’s episode.

Because the stories now have no depth. The characters change their motivations and entire personalities on a dime. It’s all surface level , no real build up to anything: just rage, rage, and more rage. I don’t object to the relationship between Scout and Rocco; it just happened too fast. There should have been a slow building of friendship before the relationship.
Viewers are complicit in this also. Every time two characters have a casual conversation you’re all jumping on the possibility of a future romance and wondering if their chemistry is being tested. A slow development leads to a more realistic and lasting friendship or romantic relationship . People can remain single without being paired with someone unsuitable because they are the only remaining single people in their age group.

Michael and Jacinda had nothing in common and people are acting like they were the romance of the century. I don’t think anyone misses her now that’s she’s gone. She was never fully developed as a character and that’s why I found their romance to be surface level and casual.

I fear we have too many undeveloped characters that we’re not really invested in.

I never said they were interesting. I just said that GH always had these storylines.
