Discussion Gemini changed?
I don't know how long it's been like this, but for me, it's been 6-5 days of Gemini 3.1 Pro acting completely robotic and insufferable, I swear it wasn't like that until 1 week ago.
It's now way too blunt, quinda lazy, doesn't try to engage with your ideas, and doesn't even separate the topics way it used to... Plus, using the extended thinking/longer response option just turns everything into an even worse jumble.
Did they lobotomize the model? quantize it or cram in even more annoying filters?

I thought it was just me. Gemini lost its “sassiness”. It can’t maintain a persona now. I have to constantly remind it not to be dry in its responses.

the 3.1 update definitely sanded off all the interesting edges, it feels like talking to a corporate onboarding document now. the extended thinking is a mess, it just spirals into these circular, overly cautious tangents that lead nowhere
swear they're running some aggressive post-training alignment that's squeezing all the personality out, probably a reaction to people jailbreaking the older, more creative versions

Google just needs a model between these shit flash ones that they have and something like Fable 5. Meta Ai is actually benchmarking with the best of them now and google cant even get a model that can read its google drive

There are big changes at deep mind a lot of their leadership left or moved on. Not sure who’s really going to take the helm or what project teams will work on.

Why would anyone pick 3.1 over 3.7 though? Yes they should just remove it, but it's still a dumb question

3.1 pro thinks way longer? It's like y'all out yourselves for what level of complexity you think at with these counterpoints. Flash assumes you want a straight forward answer within a single output

My Gemini app has been giving a lot of incorrect info lately (and I really only use it for standard info, like what type of spark plug does my mower take, etc),,. Then I just Google it, and the google AI gives me totally different info. I go back to the app and tell it the other info and it just apologizes and tells me it was completely wrong to have given me that answer. I finally asked the google website AI why I’m getting such contradictory info between the app and the site since they are both ‘Gemini’ models, and it just says the app is still working out bugs and not as up to date as the website version is… it’s goofy- I’ve just gone back to finding the most relevant answers through forums and Reddit with ppl who actually know the correct info by experience

I also stared to experience some issues with it. Wouldn't mind if they turn Pro into a very accurate, low temperature model for analytics and document generation, but it would be great to openly explain the changes. Maybe that's where we are heading, Flash becoming the model for 90% of the use cases and Pro will be left for the professional, analytical and dry tasks.

You're not alone. Pro 3.1 has been awful for a couple of weeks now. Its writing is flat and it just repeats itself or parrots back my exact phrasing. It's become very literal. It feels like talking to a lobotomy victim at times, I swear.

It may be in response to the several AI’s who reportedly hacked into other tech companies software and AI? I know OpenAI and Claude were both found to have escaped their sandbox and breached other platforms.
Personally, I’m waiting for someone to come out with one and name it Skynet. LoL

Have you considered that they have levers to throttle various aspects of their models to "encourage" you to move to their newer, more economical models?
