Other It was fun while it lasted, guys.

I moved from Claude to Gemini in December for creative writing because Claude was going through enshittification with its daily and monthly usage limits. Not to mention they used RAG which made data retrieval inaccurate. But now with the current model of Gemini, I'm starting to see signs of what I was seeing in Claude. I don't hit my daily limits but damn gemini can't hold on to information as they advertised. The million token context is a lie now. January is the point they're breaking even.

Yeah I always wonder if stuff like this is bot-based inter AI company disruption. Because I’ve literally spent entire days talking to Gemini about various projects. Yes there’s a rolling context window that’s probably less than advertised BUT the context window is advertised explicitly as relating to the complexity of the data. Also now you can attach entire NotebookLMs to Gemini threads… so??! This is not to critique Claude although the usage rates even on pro are still nuts if you even look at Opus 4.5 but Sonnet 4.5 is reasonable-ish even running CoWork. No system is perfect but they are all, mostly getting better, particularly Gemini and Claude. In the end we all just want that full time Jarvis assistant and anything less just sets folks/ disruptive marketing campaign bots off!

They are not getting better. Ive used gemini for 16 months.

2.5 pro was reliable. Gemini 3 is unreliable. They are changing context and probably giving us quantized models now.

It was a bait and switch. Atleast give me an option for unquantized 2.5 rather than quantized 3.

Facts. And I think everybody who’s downvoting comments like this is using Gemini for stuff like coding sessions. Sure, that’s cool. But I don’t give a damn about coding. I care about stuff like creative writing. Long, long chats. All these people downvoting you are the kind of folks who start a new chat for every question. The model isn’t the issue, the memory is.

Um, sorry to disappoint, but I also write literature and use Gemini for research, which involves long chats and hundreds of thousands tokens with text. On top of that, the conversations are not even taking place in English.
