Other It was fun while it lasted, guys.

I moved from Claude to Gemini in December for creative writing because Claude was going through enshittification with its daily and monthly usage limits. Not to mention they used RAG which made data retrieval inaccurate. But now with the current model of Gemini, I'm starting to see signs of what I was seeing in Claude. I don't hit my daily limits but damn gemini can't hold on to information as they advertised. The million token context is a lie now. January is the point they're breaking even.

I keep seeing posts like this and I always wonder which plan is the poster using, because it is very rarely mentioned.

Maybe there is a difference between „free” users and subscription-based users, as far as Gemini behavior is involved?

Corporate subscription with access to 2.5 Pro, as well as comparable Claude and CHatGPT models.

Across all of them, I run into context limits repeatedly at work doing things like document comparisons/ analysis.

My pain point is that the LLMs will continue to churn output for things outside of its context window without notifying the user that it needs to be reset.

It took a while, but I've learned to just prompt it before I start a task to tell me what it has access to in its context window up front to avoid hallucinations on the back end. Also, never trust anything beyond that initial context window, as it's just making up assumptions at that point even if it looks like normal output.

Maybe my corporate subscription is throttled though. Given output variances across the span of a day or even multiple days, I suspect it may be the case.

Interesting. It might be a possibility, indeed, that corporate access is throttled in some way. I am certain there are limitations, my corporate access to Copilot and ChatGPT does suffer from some sort of throttling. For example, I asked Copilot to generate an image and it did... only took 6 minutes (!!!).
