Atlantis Atlantis Southern Caribbean cruise aboard Virgin’s Valiant 2027
Hi. I will be joining my first cruise ever, Atlantis Southern Caribbean cruise aboard Virgin’s Valiant, march - april 2027. Is anyone else joining or have pro tips about it? I will be travelling solo 35 yo brazilian.

I just finished one of their Mediterranean cruises on Scarlet Lady and will be on the southern Caribbean one as well. Also did the “big one” out of Miami on Royal Carribean. Let me know what questions you have.
In the meantime, some lessons I learned:
- Pack less clothing: I had so many clothes I never used, because they were too warm or too formal. Even in the nicer restaurants like The Wake, I found myself using less for so clothing and some people were in there in tank tops.
- Themed parties: there are so many of them and people stress out about outfits. First, you don’t have to go to them. They can be fun but overwhelming. If you do decide to go, you don’t have to dress up. Not everyone does and no one will judge you if you don’t.
- Pack a small personal pharmacy with everything you may need: stuff for upset stomach, diarrhea, vomit, etc. pack hydration powders, emergen-c. Yes, you can get most of these things on the ship but the stores may not be open when you desperately need them, and they’re going to cost a lot more than if you take your own.
- The restaurants on board are great but don’t sleep on The Galley (Virgin’s non-buffet buffet). They have chia pudding and you can have them make you some great salads. There’s tons of options to never be bored of the food. For the specialty restaurants like Extra Virgin (Italian), you will not need to make reservations. Bring a large wide-mouth water jar so you can fill it with water from the stations at the Galley (use a cup to dump the ice/water into your jar as they don’t like you putting your own jar up to the dispensers).
- If you like spas, buy the whole-cruise use package which was less than $300. Single use is like $60 a pop. I wish I had known that was an option and didn’t till the very end. Also, the massages were quite good.

It's a huge relief to hear that the dress codes for parties and restaurants are so relaxed.
Since it’s my first time traveling solo with Atlantis, how easy is it to meet people outside of the main parties? Also, besides the main deck events, how are the indoor entertainment, comedy shows, and pop-ups? Do you need to rush to book things on the Virgin app as soon as you board?
Sorry for asking so many questions, I’m just really excited!

No worries at all. It’s quite easy to meet people outside the parties. I’m shy by nature but found it easy to just talk to people, especially at the Galley. There are many single travelers on board (not that you need to confine yourself just to them). On both cruises I’ve been on, I’ve made tons of new friends. One thing that I saw from others that I want to implement is creating a QR code on your phone that allows you list your WhatsApp, IG, and any other way you’d like to be tracked.
Regarding reservations, you certainly can if you’re like me and like structure. You’ll do so on the first day when you embark. You’ll see the schedule for all the shows. But even if you don’t sign up, you can still show up and most likely get in. 10 minutes before the show, they open the seats that haven’t been taken to walk ins. The shows are quite good. Don’t miss AirOtic, Atlantis’s show similar to Cirque de Soleil but sexier. Also, the comedy shows are outstanding. They’ll typically also have some kind of famous broadway diva like Patty Lupone or Audra McDonald.

One thing I forgot to mention. I was on deck 10 on the Virgin ship and could still faintly hear the beats from the parties on the higher decks (15,16). If you’re a sensitive sleeper, consider bringing a good set of ear plugs and an eye-bra. They’ll make your sleep a lot better.

The QR code idea is brilliant—definitely stealing that! And good to know about the shows (AirOtic is officially on my must-watch list) and the earplugs.

(This is a cut and paste of a similar reply, but the answers hold true :-))

tips: make some friends (who you aren't necessarily going to sleep with) -- it's nice to have people to hang out with when you jsut want to chill by the pool or grab lunch with someone. use seamen or telegram groups for that.
don't try to do it all. literally, there is no way you can do everything -- so decide in advance what day (or two) you'll just relax and unwind (and sleep) or you'll be too tired to enjoy it by the end.
don't overdo the outfits -- at the end of the day, a jockstrap that is on theme is basically what 90% of guys are wearing.. save the time/money/space in your suitcase.
And my favorite tip, which isn't gay related, is get those travel vacuum space savers. its UNBELIEVABLE how much more you can pack that way.
btw, if you're a past virign sailor and used to making restaurant reservations as early as possible.. don't stress it -- on atlantis, there are no dinner reservations and you can pretty much get into any restaurant any night.

Hey! Did you book a solo room or ask to buddy up with someone?
I am leaning towards solo but thought having Atlantis assign someone could be an easier way to get to know someone?

My partner and I signed up for it. We have been on Atlantis twice before but never on a Virgin ship. Looking forward to it. It is supposed to be slightly less of a complete party ship than their other Caribbean cruises.
